Woman shares 2p remedy to banish yellow stains from your whites – & why you should NEVER put them inside tumble dryer

A SAVVY fashionista has revealed how to tackle grim yellow sweat stains from your white garments – and why putting them inside the tumble dryer is a bad idea.

Although having a white T-shirt is a must if you want to build the so-called capsule wardrobe, more often than not this classic staple also requires extra care if you sweat.

According to the woman, there are two easy ways to banish the grim stainsTikTok/alexashaestyle

But before you chuck yours away – or turn it into an old cloth for cleaning – see how one savvy woman, Alexa Shae, removes the stains with an easy 2p remedy.

According to the style lover, from Los Angeles, the USA, these yellow patches are typically a result of your regular deodorant.

”There’s aluminum in your deodorant – and when that mixes with your sweat, it can cause kind of like a yellow colour and that does stain white T-shirts.”

As well as ”looking into a natural, aluminum-free deodorant”, Alexa also demonstrated how to banish the stains under the armpit area.

The first remedy, she explained in the clip, was mixing 1/2 cup of distilled white vinegar with one teaspoon of liquid detergent.

Once done, simply grab a clean cloth and start dabbing at the stain – however, if it’s not coming out, the fashionista also had another solution ready.

”Take some dish-washing soap – don’t use the blue one like me, get a clear one – and you can put it directly on the stain.

”Then sprinkle some baking soda,” she instructed, adding that the combination of the two will create ”almost like a paste”.

Simply apply the homemade remedy onto the stains and rub it with a toothbrush – or a cloth – and the yellow colour should vanish.

”Once the stain is out completely, you can put it in the washing machine and the dryer.”

However, this should only be done if there’s no residual of the stain left at all, as ”the heat of the dryer will really solidify stain into the garment”.

”It will become especially hard to get it out.”

Amazed, dozens flocked to comments to than Alexa, as well as share their favourite hacks to tackle the problem.

One wrote their effective formula: ”Blue Dawn [washing-up liquid] + baking soda + hydrogen peroxide works every single time!”

Another agreed, writing: ”The Blue Dawn works best!!! The blue neutralizes the yellow.”

Someone else moaned: ”But I wear natural aluminum-free deodorant and this still happens.”

”Blue dish soap works best! Leave it sitting for awhile and it’ll come right out or at least fade significantly!” a cleaning fan chimed in.

Alexa also revealed why putting the garments in the tumble dryer is a big no-noTikTok/alexashaestyle

Other tips and tricks for keeping your white garments sparkling white

Separate laundry

The first trick to always remember is to sort the laundry into different piles to wash separately, depending on the colour the clothing is.

Darker garments should never be washed with light colours to stop colours from bleeding, and the whites becoming grey.

Check the label

Even if you think you know the best way to wash an item, it’s best to be safe than sorry and always double check the label before chucking it inside the washing machine.

Whilst you can wash garments at a lower temperature than the label recommends, experts warned not to go any higher.

Load the machine right

Another pro tip the gurus shared was to remember that no matter what, the machine “should never be loaded past three-quarters of the drum.”

To ensure the items are washed properly, it’s better to do smaller loads.
