Madonna scolded a fan for sitting down before discovering they were a wheelchair user at an LA performance of her Celebration tour in one of the most awkward moments of the year.

The Material Girl, 65, apologised after realising her mistake, which she called ‘politically incorrect’ in a clip that has been shared across social media and left her fans cringing.

The snafu happened when the Vogue hitmaker addressed the audience at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles on Thursday (March 7) and began berating a concertgoer for not standing up.

‘What are you doing sitting down over there?’ Madonna is heard asking twice before strolling over to the fan in a clip shared on TikTok.

When she approached the fan, the Like A Virgin pop superstar then realised they were in a wheelchair and apologised.

‘Oh okay,’ she said when the mistake dawned on her. ‘Politically incorrect. Sorry about that. I’m glad you’re here.’

Fans have secondhand embarrassment for Madge, with Judii on TikTok exclaiming: ‘Madonna needs to wrap it up.’

‘That’s embarrassing,’ Katie cringed, while account Cheese_Gobbler94 wrote: ‘”Politically incorrect”. Oh my days Madonna.’

It’s not the first blunder Madonna has made on her epic tour, which marks 40 years of her being in the business.

She was asked by Luther Vandross’ estate to remove his name from a moving tribute about stars who died from Aids-related illnesses, among them Queen singer Freddie Mercury.

However, Vandross did not die from Aids. He died in 2005 due to complications from a stroke suffered two years earlier, a rep from his estate said.

They continued: ‘While we appreciate Madonna’s recognition of those lives lost to Aids, Luther was never diagnosed with Aids or the HIV virus.

‘We’re not sure where she or her production team received false medical information claiming otherwise.’

‘We’re currently in contact with her management to remove Luther Vandross from the tribute.’

Elsewhere during Madonna’s tour, we’ve had on-stage slip-ups when the star fell off a chair and a dig at Lady Gaga in an attempt to reignite their feud.

Earlier this month, Madonna even brought on fellow pop queen Kylie Minogue as a special guest during an LA gig, sharing the stage for the first time in 30 years.

This year is only set to get busier for Madge, who remains one of the hot favourites to headline Glastonbury 2024 once her tour finishes.

Despite organisers trying to dispel rumours she’s headed to Worthy Farm, fans are still convinced she is the ‘really big American artist’ headlining the Pyramid Stage.

Not only is she a bookies’ favourite, but organiser Emily Eavis previously said she’s keen to book ‘two female headliners’ this year.
