Desperate Housewives fans might have a big reason to be excited as a return to Wisteria Lane is looking likely.

The popular ABC comedy-drama starring Eva Longoria, Felicity Huffman, Teri Hatcher, and Marcia Cross could be making a return if the ‘hot gardener’ is to be believed. Jesse Metcalfe has revealed that he’s been approached about reprising the role of John Rowland.

‘I can certainly see that happening and I’d be open to it,’ he teased of the possible reboot.

He added to The Sun: ‘There’s definitely been discussions.’

So 12 years after the neighbours bid farewell to the street that sees more action than even Albert Square, they may be ringing the removal men once again.

Over eight series we watched Gabrielle Solis [Eva], Lynette Scavo [Felicity], Susan Mayer [Teri], and Bree Van de Kamp [Marcia] tackle complicated romantic lives, murder plots, helicopter crashes, and even natural disasters. While there was drama aplenty in the seemingly perfect place to live, the plots were regularly handled with humour and showed the women as complicated, layered characters.

TV executives for the American show that aired on Channel 4 in the UK are said to be inspired by the success of And Just Like That… – a sequel to Sex and the City, which by the way is coming to Netflix next month!

Jesse, 45, isn’t the only one open to getting back on the lane (which is actually more of a cul-de-sac), Eva, 48, has previously shared her desire to put on Gabriella’s Juicy Couture tracksuits once again.

Although, she begins the run as a privileged housewife, who relies on husband Carlos Solis for money and John for some fun outside of the marriage, she ends up as the breadwinner for her young daughters.

She also handles many wild storylines over the run from 2004-2012, including throwing politician Victor Lang (John Slattery), who is very briefly her husband, into the ocean, who then casually survives the trauma and comes after her during a tornado, and her daughter accidentally getting swapped at the hospital with another family’s offspring.

During an interview on Lorraine, Eva said: ‘I’d be the first one to sign up.’ She added with a laugh: ‘I’d probably be the only one.’

Although, she also added cold water to the rumours too.

‘I always tell Marc [Cherry, the show creator]: “So, you wouldn’t do a reboot?” He just thinks we have fully mined those characters. He doesn’t know what else there is to say about those characters.’

Desperate Housewives is available to stream on Disney Plus.
