The Oscars 2024 has sparked backlash after missing late actors including Angus Cloud and Lance Reddick from the In Memoriam section.

Academy Awards fans blasted the ceremony for being ‘shameful’ for snubbing the names of high-profile stars in the emotional and poignant section that is included every year.

As well as Euphoria star Cloud and John Wick actor Reddick, other performers missed from the tribute included Treat Williams, Terence Davies, Suzanne Somers, and Norman Lear.

Viewers of the glitzy event, that saw Oppenheimer win seven awards, raged on X about the notable absences from the In Memoriam section, with Peter Mann fuming: ‘Did they not mention Angus Cloud in the In Memoriam?! #Oscars for shame!’

Echoing Peter’s sentiment, account Highmay added: ‘#Oscars didn’t mention Angus Cloud, Even with Zendeya presenting an award. Very sad for someone who died so early into a promising career.’

Katie Baker, meanwhile, was baffled Reddick, who died from heart disease aged 60, was snubbed.

Jonathan Ross, who was covering the Oscars on ITV in the UK, was branded as being ‘as funny as a fungal infection.’

‘This Jonathan Ross ITV pre Academy Awards coverage is utterly painful. Awful jokes, forced laughs from his few guests, HELL ON EARTH,’ Harrison Brock wrote on X.

This year’s Oscars saw Oppenheimer sweep the board with seven awards including best actor for Cillian Murphy and best director for Christopher Nolan, while Emma Stone was crowned best actress for the second time in her career.
