Sharon Osbourne has explained why she signed up to appear on Celebrity Big Brother with Louis Walsh.

The former X Factor judges, both 71, were the first to enter the house last week, with Sharon soon after revealed to be a ‘special house guest’.

Although it was initially believed she was only having a brief stint on the reality series due to her salary demands, she later revealed it was instead due wanting to get home to husband Ozzy, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease five years ago.

Ahead of entering the house, Sharon also shared it was Ozzy who sparked her decision to accept the offer of appearing on screen with Louis again.

The pair previously appeared on the talent show panel together from 2004 until 2006 and then in 2016 and 2017.

In the years since, Ozzy has loved re-watching old clips of their on-air exchanges.

‘Since X Factor there’s still clips of Louis and I that go on different sites, I look at them and I think, “My God, these are years old and they’re still getting played”,’ she explained.

‘And my husband is always looking at them and he’s always saying, “Oh God, you and Louis, what a couple”.

‘And so it makes him laugh. And then I think, “oh well…” because Ozzy’s quite hard to make laugh and he just loves watching them,’ she added when speaking to The Sun.

Former Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy, 75, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease five years ago and has since struggled with his mobility and chronic pain.

However, Sharon said she had no doubt he’d be tuning in to each episode, joking he would be ‘phoning Big Brother saying he needs to talk to me’.

She then explained their eldest daughter Amy would be there looking after Ozzy while she was on the show.

Speaking about her long-standing friendship with Louis, Sharon said the secret to their connection was ‘a very naughty sense of humour’ and they both embraced not taking things too seriously.

‘We’re not saving lives, we are not doing heart transplants. This is entertainment,’ she said, adding she was backing him to take out the title.

Last week she said she only signed up to appear on the show for just under a week so she wasn’t away from her husband for too long.

‘We’re so close as a family. I don’t think I have ever gone a week without talking to any of them, ever. Through fights, feuds, everything. We still talk and this will definitely be the longest,’ she told the publication.

Celebrity Big Brother continues tomorrow at 9pm on ITV1.
