Celebrity Big Brother star Colson Smith has opened up on ‘starving’ himself and hating who he was.

The Corrie star, who plays PC Craig Tinker on the ITV soap, is taking part in the reality programme alongside the likes of Sharon Osbourne, Louis Walsh and Fern Britton.

And while viewers haven’t seen much of him yet, the 25-year-old has now opened up to former X Factor judge Sharon, 71, about his weight loss journey.

He said: ‘I lost weight when I was 18 through quite a strict diet and what I found was that I was gaining weight and then I’d try and diet again, the way I thought I knew to diet.’

‘I wouldn’t eat for a day and a half I would just starve myself, and then I’d be that hungry,’ Colson went on.

‘The floodgates would burst,’ Sharon added, having previously discussed her own weight loss.

‘I used to drive to KFC and I used to order three meals and then I would hate myself so I wouldn’t eat again for a day and a half and it would be that for months and months and months.’

‘A rollercoaster,’ Sharon added, continuing: ‘You know people who don’t have to worry about their weight, they have no idea how hard it is… it’s a killer.’

‘I am glad that I’ve done what I’ve done the way I’ve done it, and I’ve the level of control that I got with it because I have a discipline and I also understand myself,’ Colson shared, praising his girlfriend for her ‘support’, especially when he has a ‘bad day’.

The soap star has been widely praised for the candid chat, with viewer @Shiikane saying: ‘It’s unusual to hear a man speaking about an eating disorder or struggling with a food addiction, kudos to Colson for sharing his story.’

‘Colson is just an amazing light isn’t he,’ Emma added.

Jess commented: ‘Colson talking about his weight and eating issues is so important. It’s great that he has felt comfortable enough to open up about his struggles.’

Sharon has previously spoken about her 30-pound weight loss after admitting she ‘didn’t want to be this thin’ and admitting to using Ozempic.

It’s usually offered as a treatment for people with type 2 diabetes, but some have been using the drug to lose weight and achieve new figures, like Sharon.

The mum-of-three and TalkTV star also claimed that she goes ‘three days a week without eating’.

Sharon, who has since stopped taking the drug, said she didn’t want her use of it to be a ‘dirty little secret’, having said on Piers Morgan Uncensored: ‘It’s just time to stop, I didn’t actually want to go this thin, but it just happened.’

Celebrity Big Brother continues tonight at 9pm on ITV1.
