Normally when a wrestler suffers a brutal injury, fans are left gutted and sympathetic, but for Darby Allin that’s not the case.
The daredevil All Elite Wrestling star suffered a broken foot less than two minutes into his match against ‘Switchblade’ Jay White on Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite, and fans have claimed the painful break may actually be a sign from God.
Darby, 31, was due to start climbing Mount Everest next week after just six months training, with fans fearing for his life once he embarked on the remarkable challenge.
He tweeted: ‘Unfortunately the foots really broke from Wednesdays match. Everest will have to be next year. (sic)’
Despite his keenness to try again in 2025, fans have encouraged Darby to reconsider and insisted he should take this setback as a message from a higher power.
‘God intervened on Darby Allin,’ wrote X user @BackupHangman, while @Agosto AllElite added: ‘Divine intervention…. 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️ This is Darby’s sign not to climb that damn mountain.’

‘The whole AEW roster failed to stop Darby from climbing mount everest that God had to intervene,’ suggested @knoxben1, with @FBRPod tweeting: ‘Darby Allen breaking his foot is a sign from God if I’ve ever seen one.’
Fan @mikey_rakkar was conflicted as they admitted: ‘Never happy for a wrestler to get injured but thank god Darby got injured.’
Others described the incident as ‘some sort of spiritual sign’, while yet another fan pointed out that the wrestler managed to avoid injury despite many ‘dangerous’ stunts and matches over the years, only to get hurt just before a potentially life threatening expedition.
@xibushistar wrote: ‘No, but seriously, Darby has done too many dangerous things throughout his career but he just got injured a few weeks before climbing Mount Everest? This was undoubtedly a sign for him.’

As reported by TMZ,Darby suffered the injury when he flipped off the top rope to the floor at ringside, landing awkwardly and snapping the bone.
Despite visibly limping, the former champion continued to wrestle and finished the match as planned, working for another 10 minutes and continuing to fly around the ring.
However, the outlet claimed Darby will make the best of a gutting situation, with skateboarding legend Tony Hawk planning to use his cast to do a trick next week for charity.

Darby had been set to climb Mount Everest with just six months training from scratch, while experts often recommend over a year for mountaineering beginners.
Speaking exclusively to Metro.co.uk before the injury, Darby explained: ‘They told me, to train with zero mountain experience, in six months, to climb Everest is unheard of – let alone what I’m doing myself out there [in the ring].’
And the wrestler was very aware of the possibility he might not come back alive.

Asked if he was scared by that, he said: ‘No, not at all. The first thing that the trainer told me when I met up with him for Everest was, “Are you afraid to die?” I’m like, “No.”
‘He’s like, “That’s the only mindset you have to have. Because if you’re worried about X, Y, and Z, get out right now.” And I’m just like, “Whatever happens, happens, you know?
‘Because I’ve lived more in the last year than people have in their whole lives. So I’ve got nothing – you know what I mean? I’ve done so much already that I never thought was possible.’
