I was dying when I turned up to a wedding in the bridesmaids’ EXACT dress… people say I made a crucial error

A WOMAN was left mortified when she attended a wedding dressed in the same £79 dress as the bridesmaids.

Taylor Fogarty splashed out on the floor-length pastel blue gown for a spring wedding last year.

But she soon learnt it was the exact same dress that the bridesmaids had onKennedy Newsand Media

But the make-up artist, 28, was left red-faced when she watched the bridal party walk down the aisle.

To her horror, she realised she was wearing the exact same dress as the bridesmaids.

Taylor’s “stomach was in knots throughout the day” due to the embarrassing blunder.

She recalls “dying inside” when a fellow guest brought it up at the buffet table – and avoided the bridal party for the whole wedding.

According to Taylor, the bride wasn’t happy when she issued a “very awkward apology”.

“I immediately started going bright red and my stomach was in knots after seeing the bridesmaids,” the Florida-based MUA tells.

“I just got so uncomfortable that I wanted to leave, I fully couldn’t enjoy myself.

“I didn’t talk to the bridesmaids, I approached the bride at the reception and apologised – I was so embarrassed I felt like I had to say something.

“It was very, very awkward. I had met her prior but we weren’t close at all.”

” I think about it often, it makes me cringe.”

Taylor says the blunder is a “lesson learned” and that she’ll “definitely be finding out the bridesmaids’ dress colour” for future weddings.

“It definitely does look like a bridesmaid’s dress looking back at it,” she adds.

“Maybe I shouldn’t have gone with a floor length dress but I wasn’t thinking.

“There are people saying that I should’ve asked – but I don’t really know if anyone would have asked that.”

WEDDING OUTFIT ETIQUETTE

Good wedding outfit etiquette for women can vary depending on the specific style of the wedding and its location.

It’s typically considered impolite for guests to wear white or ivory to a wedding, as these colours are traditionally reserved for the bride.

If the wedding invitation specifies a dress code – such as black tie, cocktail attire or casual – make sure to adhere to it.

What’s more, take into account the location and time of the wedding when choosing your outfit.

For example, if it’s a beach wedding, you might opt for a lightweight sundress and sandals, while a formal evening wedding might call for a floor-length gown and heels.

And as Taylor learnt, it might be worth running your outfit by the bride or someone in the bridal party.
