Celebrity Big Brother star Fern Britton is said to be planning her TV comeback with her own show.

The former This Morning legend, 66, reached the final of the ITV reality programme, which saw the likes of Louis Walsh, Gary Goldsmith and winner David Potts.

And she’s now reportedly plotting a major return to our screens, after helming This Morning from 2002 to 2009 with Phillip Schofield.

An insider said: ‘Fern is planning her big TV comeback. She’s desperate to do her own chat show and is already in talks with TV networks.

‘CBB has done her the world of good, the public forgot how likeable she is, but the show has given her that new lease of life.

‘It’s no secret she was treated badly before, and it put her off doing TV again, but now she feels ready to be back on screens.’

Fern has previously addressed her reported feud with Schofield, who quit This Morning last year after admitting his ‘unwise but not illegal’ affair with a younger employee.

Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard have since taken over the roles of permanent hosts, after Holly Willoughby also stepped down months after Schofield.

Following her abrupt exit from the show, Fern failed to mention her then co-host Schofield, who later claimed in his autobiography that the pair had an intense fallout which led to their relationship ‘turning sour’.

She later claimed an on-set incident caused her to walk away, and it wasn’t about an alleged pay difference.

‘There was also a persistent rumour that I left because Phillip was being paid more than me and I always say to people, “Why would I leave a show to go to nothing if I was worried about money?”,’ she said on the Ray D’Arcy Show in 2020.

She added: ‘Something happened and I thought, “That’s it really” and I walked away and resigned. I was treated pretty poorly, actually. And after a while I just thought, “Sod it”.’

It’s now been said Fern is getting ‘her ultimate revenge’, with the source adding to Bella: ‘She’s warm, caring and fun – all the things TV producers look for in a host.

‘Now Phillip isn’t in the picture any more, she can get her ultimate revenge and be a success on TV once again!’

While in the Celebrity Big Brother house, Fern reignited the feud rumours when she said she would ‘leave’ if Schofield were to enter.

‘I got off the train and its way over the horizon now so I honestly don’t know,’ she said, when asked by Goldsmith what she thought of the recent changes to the show.

Goldsmith – who also admitted to thinking Boris Johnson did a ‘good job’ as a Prime Minister and said the world is a ‘safer place’ with Donald Trump – then mentioned to Britton that Schofield was rumoured to be entering the Big Brother house.

‘I might have to leave at that point,’ Fern replied.

She added that the new presenting line-up of Shephard and Deeley is a ‘new era’ for the show.

The former presenter admitted it was ‘tricky at times’ to work on This Morning, but added she feels it is an institution which ‘rocks but it gets back together again’.

Metro.co.uk has approached Fern’s reps for comment.

Celebrity Big Brother is available to watch on ITVX.
