People say my wedding guest dress is ‘something you’d wear to a Jane Austen Tea Party’ but I think it’s Bridgeton-esque
A WEDDING guest dress has been criticized as a better fit for 19th century tea time.
She maintained that she loved the style, comparing it to the Netflix series Bridgerton.

Redditor Priority_snail posted the contending dress to the social media platform, requesting advice on the look.
She specified that the look she chose took into account a special occasion of her own taking place.
“Black tie wedding at 16 weeks pregnant,” she said.
Priority_snail added that the wedding would take place in May in New England.
ASK THE AUDIENCE
The wedding attendee posted pictures of the dress, which was long and a light pink hue.
“Is this pattern inappropriate for black tie?” she asked.
“I’d plan on hemming it to remove the train. The dress feels very Bridgerton.”
The dress is called the Gilvery ruched floral-print chiffon maxi dress by Loveshackfancy, $237, on The Outnet.
DRESS DO OR DON’T
Several Redditors chimed in to give their view on the potential wedding guest dress.
“The dress does feel very Bridgerton, but is more formal garden party than black tie, in my opinion,” one wrote.
“Is the wedding during the day? I think this could pass for a day wedding but for night I think you’re going to need to go more formal.”
“I tend to think pregnant women get tons of leeway,” another added. “That said, this sort of looks like a nightgown to me. Sorry.”
“I reverse image searched it and it’s chiffon, but I agree it’s too sundress-y for black tie,” a third commented.
“Sorry, this looks like something you’d wear to a Jane Austen tea party,” yet another wrote.
Some said they loved the look, encouraging her to go through with the Loveshackfancy dress.

“I adore this so much,” a fan chimed in. “It’s giving me Jane Austen vibes. I would absolutely wear this.”
“Perfect,” another said. “Pregnancy is hard, so if this is comfortable and the one for you, go for it. Congratulations.”
“[Priority_snail, if this were a Bridgerton tea party, you’d be sitting in the presence of the queen. Wear this dress. It’s lovely,” a third supporter of the style wrote.
In the end, Priority_snail decided to go without the Loveshackfancy frock.
“Seriously thank you to everyone who weighed in,” she said. “I’m going to return the dress and keep searching.”
