Better luck in 2025…

Glastonbury ticket hopefuls are reeling after organiser Emily Eavis announced there are less resale tickets up for grabs than ever before.

General admission tickets were snapped up in November just 25 minutes after they went on sale. Those lucky enough to nab tickets paid a £75 deposit, with the full amount due in a week-long window, which has just ended on April 7.

This gives ticketholders a chance to pull out of the festival, if they aren’t keen on the line-up or can no longer make it.

If festival goers did not cough up their final balance in this time – and officially claim their tickets – then they are put into the resale pot, which will open on Sunday April 23.

While many people have taken aim at this year’s line-up – which, uniquely to other festivals, is announced after the initial ticket sale – the Worthy Farm festival organiser Emily has revealed in 2024 they’ve had the highest percentage of ticket balances paid in the history of the festival.

Taking to Instagram with an iconic picture of the Pyramid Stage, Emily wrote: ‘Just heard that we had our highest percentage of ticket balances paid ever! Incredible. Thanks so much everyone.

‘There will be a resale of the (very limited) returned tickets later this month. Info to follow on that.’

Fans were gutted that the resale pool will be the smallest ever, as many took to the post expressing their disappointment at the news.

‘Well that’s upsetting. I was hoping for a decent chance of luck in the resale!’ wrote ohlookasquirrel01.

‘That’s not the news I wanted to hear 😭’ added mikechurm82, while connorryan1993 agreed, saying: ‘Not what we wanted to hear Emily.’

‘Not good news,’ added user gillatron.

Others were surprised at Emily’s statement, citing the line-up as being somewhat under par than what they’re used to from the legendary festival – which always sells out ahead of line-up announcements due to its iconic reputation as the best festival in the UK.

After talks with Madonna allegedly broke down, the line-up has been announced with Dua Lipa, Coldplay, and SZA headlining, and Shania Twain taking the legends slot.

A number of Glastonbury fans took to Emily’s post, confessing to have given up their tickets due to the line-up.

‘This would have been my 5th glasto. But I didn’t pay my balance. The line up just isn’t for me. Didn’t excite me at all. Hopefully someone will get my ticket that will appreciate it and maybe get their very first Glastonbury experience,’ user chellewilsonx said.

‘I’m really surprised. I thought a lot of people would have backed out with the line up so far,’ said juliabyrne78.

‘This is surprising,’ agreed 8ch___, continuing: ‘I didn’t pay my balance given the line up is so terrible. Would have thought a high volume of people would have done the same.’

But others disagreed with the negativity surrounding the line-up, as amoodybarber wrote: ‘This is the most varied lineup we’ve had in ages, I’m not surprised it’s such a high percentage, it’s lineing up to be a great year.’

Fan Soph Ellis wrote: ‘Glasto isn’t about the lineup it’s about the experience !!!! The fact people wouldn’t go because of a lineup is wild to me.’

This comes after Glastonbury increased its ticket price by £75 in two years, with it costing a total of £360 per ticket for 2024.

It also comes as London’s BST Hyde Park Festival has bagged a whole host of legends for its multi-weekend event happening over summer.

Their headliners include The Kings of Leon, Robbie Williams, Stevie Nicks, Pink, and Kylie Minogue.

Two of Glastonbury’s headliners – Shania and SZA – are also performing at the London festival.

Glastonbury is taking place at Worthy Farm from June 26 to 30 2024.
