As millions looked on in awe at the eclipse that plunged parts of the world into complete darkness, one man used the opportunity to pull a once-in-a-lifetime prank.

The total solar eclipse on Tuesday was covered by broadcasters around the world, but the coverage from one news outlet in Mexico has now taken off thanks to an almighty on-air blunder.

That blunder: accidentally airing a video of testicles instead of the eclipse.

RCG Media was airing a segment about the eclipse on Tuesday when they asked viewers to send in their own images and videos of the phenomenon.

And it appears the viewer videos weren’t thoroughly checked, because one featured the sun beginning to go dark — before a pair of very close-up, hairy testicles began descending on the screen to block out the sun.

In a clip, three RCG anchors can be seen discussing the eclipse and watching impressive footage sent in from a viewer in Arizona, before the next video begins airing.

However it turned into what one social media dubbed a ‘testicular eclipse’ (Picture: RCG)

The anchor continues talking as the testicles descend, and while one female anchor gasps, it takes the other two a moment to realise what’s going on.

She gasps again and puts her hands on the desk as the male anchor continues talking — and then things continue on professionally.

Once the testicles have been removed from the screen, that is.

While the RCG production team must have been scrambling and mortified at the time, it appears they now see a funny side of things, as the official news channel shared the clip to their own social media account.

They wrote, in a post translated from Spanish: ‘How did you see the #eclipse? Ours was….’ and they then shared two egg emojis, which placed together vaguely look like — well, you can guess.

The video has made its way across social media, and X users have been on the ball with puns and jokes — like user Western Lensman, who wrote ‘A testicular eclipse is not something I had on my Tuesday bingo card.’

User Jim went all in as he said it was ‘ballsy of them to air that, it’s just nuts.’

Kevin M Nelson joked ‘somebody really dropped the ball on this one,’ and while some were disturbed, others apologised for ‘finding this hilarious’.

The uncensored clip is available to watch on the official RCG Media X account — if you dare.
