WWE legend CM Punk appears to have addressed Tony Khan’s decision to leak footage of his backstage fight at AEW All In London.

On Wednesday night’s episode of AEW Dynamite, the company aired a video showing Punk’s altercation with Jack Perry – the son of late Riverdale actor Luke Perry – at Wembley Stadium last August.

The incident led to the former world champion being fired, and less than three months later he rejoined WWE in one of the biggest wrestling surprises of all time.

In the footage, Punk can be seen shoving Perry, seemingly putting him in a chokehold, and being pulled away by fellow wrestlers.

The decision to air the video appears to have backfired, with fans chanting Punk’s name and many wondering what Khan hoped to achieve.

After the footage was broadcast, the wrestling legend posted a photo of George W. Bush with his thumb up, and the slogan: ‘Mission accomplished.’

Before Dynamite, Khan told Sports Illustrated: ‘The decision is based on putting on the best show for AEW, as well as driving interest for Dynamite and our Dynasty pay-per-view on April 21.

‘This is real-life footage that affected many people, and it will air for the first time on TBS during Dynamite.’

The footage was aired as part of the buildup to a match between The Young Bucks (who have their own real life issues with CM Punk) and his friends in FTR.

It follows Punk’s explosive interview on The MMA Hour, in which he addressed his row with Perry for the first time.

The two wrestlers clashed after Punk told him not to use real glass in a wrestling stunt, with Perry later doing just that at Wembley before mocking Punk.

He told Ariel Helwani: ‘I walk up to him, and I’m like, “Jack, why do you insist on doing this dumb internet s**t on TV?” And he’s just like, “Well if you got a problem about it, do something about it.”

‘And I was like, “Oh come on man, I’ll f***ing kill you. What are we doing?” I thought I did the responsible thing. I didn’t punch anybody

‘I just choked him a little bit. I turned to Tony (Khan) and said, “This place is a f***ing joke man. You’re a clown. I quit.” ‘

The confrontation happened just moments before the veteran stepped out to face Samoa Joe in what ended up being the former’s final AEW match.

Now, he is back in WWE and embroiled in a high profile rivalry with Drew McIntyre, which saw him cost the Scottish Warrior the World Heavyweight Title at WrestleMania 40.
