Come Dine With Me star Indy Nijjar has died aged 50 with his loved ones paying tribute on Facebook.

Nijjar, from Grimsby, appeared on the Channel 4 show and also worked as a tattoo artist and a fitness coach.

Dozens of his friends, clients and co-workers have remembered him on social media, with Hayley Mackenzie on Facebook describing him as ‘larger than life, always on the dancefloor and the biggest sweetheart with the biggest heart.’

Sarah Gardener wrote: Lockdown uplifting soul. A legend. He helped so many people from all walks of life. My deepest condolences to his son, family and all the literally thousands of people who knew him. RIP matey. X,’

Victoria Blendell added: ‘Rest in peace Indy Nijjar devestated to hear this news, you was always there for me in tough times and I don’t think you know how much you helped .. will miss your presence on the dance floor and your energy .’

Maxine Ambler said: ‘Absolutely gutted to wake up to the news of a true gentleman & friend passing Indy Nijjar may you rest in peace keep those dancing slippers on you will be sadly missed fly high.’

Conn Lowe penned: ‘I can’t believe one of the strongest men I know has been taken from us, you was an absolute legend Ind! This guy would help anyone out and has helped a lot of people with there problems whilst he had his own.

‘Inspired me as a young kid I looked up to all you boys growing up and when I found out the news this morning it broke my heart, your gonna be missed by so many brother, big love and I send my condolences to your family/friends you’ll never be forgotten.’
