Johannes Radebe has shared a surprising revelation that a member of the royal family has a secret desire to compete on the hit show Strictly Come Dancing.

The 36-year-old professional dancer appeared on the latest episode of ITV’s The Jonathan Ross Show and stunned the audience and fellow guests – Perrie Edwards, Frank Skinner, Aisling Bea, and Kasabian – by dropping the bombshell news.

According to the South African-born dancer, Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, expressed her longing to participate in the dance competition.

He said: ‘She would love the opportunity to [compete in Strictly Come Dancing] but she can’t obviously. She has personally told me this.’

Radebe has associated with the royal family before, demonstrating his dancing skills to Queen Camilla earlier this year at a charity event.

Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh has been married to Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh, the youngest sibling of King Charles III, since 1999.

An activist and philanthropist, the Duchess does charity work to benefit people with disabilities, women’s rights, the blind, and agriculture.

Amidst the revelation, Radebe also shared exciting news about his own career. He announced his upcoming musical debut in a UK and Ireland tour of Kinky Boots next year, where he will play the role of drag queen Lola.

‘I’m a late bloomer. I have the opportunity to play Lola in Kinky Boots. Everything I’ve done in my career has led to this moment. I’ve followed it since its inception,’ Radebe expressed his enthusiasm.

In addition to acting, Radebe confirmed that he would be showcasing his vocal talents in the musical: ‘A first for me. It’s been two years I’ve been taking my singing lessons because I’ve known about the job for two years,’ he revealed.

‘I just wanted to respect people who have come before me and put in the work before I could say yes. I’m grateful that the producers waited until I was ready.’

While its unlikely the Duchess will ever take to the stage like Radebe, there are already rumours swirling about who might appear on the upcoming season of Strictly Come Dancing.

Hannah Waddingham, Nicola Peltz, Sophie Morgan, Jill Scott, and Phillip Schofield have all been rumoured to appear on the 2024 season of the show.

The Jonathan Ross Show airs on Saturday at 10:05pm on ITV and ITVX.
