Clint Eastwood is showing absolutely no signs of slowing down as he made a very rare public appearance in California.

The 93-year-old has been hard at work on his upcoming film, Juror No. 2 – and was recently spotted behind the camera with Nicholas Hoult and Toni Collette.

Just weeks before his 94th birthday though, the Hollywood icon took a break from the set to attend a speaking event last month, hosted by conservationist Dr Jane Goodall.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly star was snapped at the Sunset Cultural Center in his adopted hometown of Carmel-by-the-Sea for the talk.

With his hair and beard long, as per his more recent preference, the Oscar-winning filmmaker wore a checkered shirt and navy trousers for the event, paired with a blue zip-up jacket and black trainers.

In pictures obtained by DailyMail.com, was seen making his way in for the event, called Reasons for Hope, were tickets went for $95 each, and Eastwood was proudly sat in the front row.

If that wasn’t enough excitement, photos also emerged of the director sitting down for a one-on-one chat with Dr Goodall at a reception prior to her talk.

The pair chatted together animatedly as they sat in neighbouring armchairs, in font of glasses of water and a celebratory cake on offer to guests.

Dr Goodall, 90, looked smart in a black outfit with a brightly-coloured, leaf-patterned scarf worn over the top.

Eastwood has commanded a decades-long career in film after his breakout TV success in Rawhide, enjoying successes first as an actor with Westerns like A Fistful of Dollars and Hang ‘Em High and other hits including Escape from Alcatraz, Dirty Harry, Where Eagles Dare and In the Line of Fire.

In 1971 he made his directorial debut with Play Misty For Me, before going on to establish himself as one of Hollywood’s most revered filmmakers thanks to movies including Unforgiven, Million Dollar Baby, Changeling and The Bridges of Madison County.

He’s kept up a relentless pace across his career, with his last two films, Richard Jewell, starring Sam Rockwell, Kathy Bates and Paul Walter Hauser, released in 2019, and follow up Cry Macho – in which he also starred – out in 2021.

However, he has sparked concern from fans after he appeared to take a serious step back from the spotlight in recent years.

He hadn’t been seen in public for around two years before photos emerged from the set of Juror No. 2 at the end of 2023, showing him happily behind the camera.

An insider previously told Radar that the star had ‘always enjoyed great health and been vital and active despite his advancing age’, but his lack of public appearances had made a lot of people in Hollywood ‘worried’.

‘It’s hard to imagine him in anything other than fine form but Father Time catches up to all of us,’ they explained.

‘People do worry about his health. He’s the director, but he’s also involved in every other aspect like the casting and he’ll likely compose the score as he’s done on his other films.’

The source also addressed suggestions that Eastwood was planning to retire from Hollywood for good, adding: ‘He wants to do this movie as a swan song and go out in a blazing sunset.’

As well as Hoult and Collette, the upcoming flick also stars Zoey Deutch, Kiefer Sutherland and Chris Messina, and is expected to be Eastwood’s last big screen offering – although he has yet to confirm this.

According to reports, the film focuses on juror Justin Kemp during a murder trial, when he realizes that his reckless driving is actually to blame for the victim losing their life.

A release date for the film has yet to be announced.
