The former Manchester United legend has joined a Pro Clubs team in EA Sports FC 24, but things really haven’t gotten off to a good start.

YouTubers Angry Ginge and Yung Filly have made waves in the EA Sports FC 24 community recently, not just by starting their own Pro Clubs team, Girth N Turf FC, but by signing the former Manchester United and England captain Wayne Rooney to play for their team.

Rooney and co. might want to read up on pro player Daniel ‘Stingray’ Ray’s top tips in EA Sports FC 24 though, because the team lost all four of their first games together.

This inspired the team to trick Rooney into logging on for training at 8am one morning, which was a fake session, leaving an annoyed Rooney all by himself waiting for the others for hours.

Angry Ginge told the story of how they wound Rooney up on TikTok, laughing as he narrated their conversation, saying:

‘Ten o’clock in the morning I’m in bed trying to get to sleep, I get a phone call [from] Wayne Rooney: ‘So I take it we’re not training, lad?’

‘Genuinely I’m p****** myself because I already know what’s coming. He goes: ‘Well I’ve been up since 06:30 with my controller in my hands and I’ve just found out that it’s just banter that you lads have.”

It gets worse, as Rooney tells Angry Ginge that the joke had real-life repercussions:

‘He [Rooney] goes: ‘I’ve had to tell my missus that I can’t do the school run because I’ve got training.”

It’s fair to say that, despite his status as a former Manchester United and England star, Angry Ginge is not afraid to poke fun at Rooney. Angry Ginge told Rooney to no be s*** the next time they played, after losing their first four games, to which Rooney replied: ‘Heh. Alright, you ginger c***.’

The online mode they play is Pro Clubs, which lets you create your own player and play with friends. Girth N Turf FC has played against football stars such as Trent Alexander-Arnold, Aaron Ramsdale, and Tammy Abraham so far.

The YouTube team also has dart sensation Luke Littler on their team, as well as Brit Award winner and rapper Aitch.

You can expect to hear more from them in the future, as they’ve done very well to attract famous people to play EA Sports FC 24, with or against them, just weeks after they created the team.
