Two of the most popular Counter-Strike 2 creators are calling it quits, complaining that the cheating problem is out of control.
It’s no secret that there are lots of cheaters in Counter-Strike, and indeed most online shooters, but ever since Counter-Strike: Global Offensive became Counter-Strike 2 in September last year, it seems to have gotten worse.
Even the beta test for Counter-Strike 2 had cheaters in it and a more recent bug allowed anyone to add cheats while playing the game.
Counter-Strike’s cheating problem has gotten so out of hand that well-known content creators Warowl and Anomaly have decided to call it a day.
Anomaly, who has over 3 million subscribers on YouTube, where he’s mostly uploaded Counter-Strike content, announced that he’s quitting Counter-Strike full stop, saying:
‘There is just no way I can play Counter-Strike with the state that the game is in right now, and I’m not the only one. So many people, content creators included, are just absolutely fed up with the state that the game is currently in.
‘I’ve been playing Counter-Strike: Global Offensive since 2012, when the game was just in beta. And the state that the game is in right now with cheaters, is literally the worst it’s ever been,’ he said in a recent video.
Warowl, who has almost 1.5 million subscribers on YouTube and has played Counter-Strike since its original launch in 2000, said this week that he’s quitting matchmaking, ‘Until they fix the cheater problem.’
He added: ‘There’s a lot more cheaters in high-rated Premier matches [Counter-Strike 2’s main competitive mode], way more than there used to be.’
In his video, Warowl also included an eight minute compilation of cheaters in Counter-Strike 2 to make his point, and fans on social media agreed with him.
One of the best players in the world, S1mple, has also complained about the cheating problem in recent weeks, tweeting that one solution could be to partner with third party anti-cheat system FACEIT:
‘You need to understand @CounterStrike that without proper anti-cheat, Premier f****** sucks. No one’s gonna grind for ratings like in Valorant. Easiest way, connect with FACEIT anti-cheat. Hardest way, create a much better one,’ S1mple said.

The problem isn’t that Counter-Strike 2 doesn’t have an anti-cheat system, it does, but that it’s not very good and it too frequently lets cheaters go unpunished.
Considering Counter-Strike 2 has been one of the most popular shooters in gaming for the past two decades, and cheating has been prevalent for so many years, fans asking for a better anti-cheat system seems more than reasonable.
