A Disney movie has left viewers horrified at a scene which sees an adult woman kissing an 11-year-old boy.

The film, which has previously gone viral for this eyebrow-raising situation, has sparked outrage online again after it resurfaced.

Blank Check, which was released in 1994, is currently available to watch on Disney Plus, which many people have suggested they’re not happy with.

In fact, in a video this month about the ‘world’s worst movie fails’, TikTok user @thejasonhorton declared: ‘This did not age well at all. Yikes!’

In the scene from the movie, the main character, 11-year-old Preston Waters, asks an adult woman: ‘When can I see you again, Shay?’

She says: ‘Hmm, why don’t you give me a call in, say, 10 years?’

‘Five,’ Preston says, with Shay responding: ‘Seven’, before the pair of them agree on six.

Just to help with the maths, that would still only make him 17, whereas actress and model Karen Duffy, who played undercover FBI agent Shay Stanley, was 31 at the time of filming, while child actor Brian Bonsall was 12.

Things only became more uncomfortable as she then leans in and kisses him on the mouth.

‘Wrong on so many levels,’ declared Jay Dee in the comment section, while user @Mustard wrote: ‘I remember this movie as a kid. Seeing that now is insane! How did parents think that was okay?’

‘What the actual,’ added fan Heidi, with a shocked emoji face.

‘I guarantee you, if this was an adult MAN and an 11-year-old GIRL in this scenario, even in the ’90s, it would’ve been extremely controversial!’ pointed out @kris_world1806.

Naturally, the outrage has spread further online, with one viewer writing on X: ‘HOW IS THIS LEGAL? JAIL. JAIL. JAIL.’

‘I feel like I committed a crime for watching this….’ added another.

‘How tf [sic] did Disney let that grown ass woman kiss that 11 year old boy on blank check???’ questioned TDot, while @SagittariusN2U called Disney ‘outta line’ for the scene.

‘LAWD he was 11,’ they added of the character.

The Say Whats Reel account on X also recently visited the film to discuss the scene ‘that had everyone in a frenzy’, deeming the kiss ‘mad inappropriate’ when watched ‘through adult eyes’.

However, Bonsall, who recently celebrated his part in the film as it marked its 30th anniversary, has also reacted to the resurfaced outcry over the film’s poor ageing.

‘Boy did I have a blast making this movie. I got to work with some amazing humans and I’m feeling grateful,’ he wrote on his Facebook page.

‘Thanks to the cast, crew and everyone who continues to enjoy it!’ he added back in February.

Others had defended the film from the criticism, with Debbie Garsh-Mallory posting underneath Bonsall’s original message on Friday: ‘I can’t believe Disney would want to pull this from their streaming services. It’s a really good movie and harmless…

‘People need to focus on worse things than a kiss from a grown woman… it wasn’t even a passionate kiss for crying out loud  SMH ‘

Bonsall himself then responded to his fan’s comment, writing: ‘It’s still on my Disney Plus! Hope it’s on yours, too!!’

His mother also got involved with the discussion on her son’s post after fan Adam Bocanegra said he found ‘some scenes cringy and creepy’ in Blank Check after having kids of his own, and pointed out the age disparity between the two actors.

‘Ya know what??? 30 people cams laughs with Duff and THIS MOM right there? You don’t need to worry about a THING NOT YOURS SON [sic],’ Kathleen Bonsall replied.

The 1994 movie was directed by Rupert Wainwright.

It follows young Preston, who’s nearly killed by crook Carl Quigley (Miguel Ferrer). After running over his bike, Carl mistakenly gives Preston a blank cheque, which the youngster makes out for $1million (£808,000).

Carl comes looking for Preston, while the FBI hunt for his alias, Macintosh, with the kid learning his lesson along the way.

Blank Check was released to negative reviews but was a box office success, grossing three times its $13m (£10.5m) budget at $39m (£31.5m).
