Britain’s Got Talent star Bessie Cursons has made an impressive acting career for herself, after rising to fame on the first ever season.
The then-11-year-old made her stage debut on Simon Cowell’s ITV talent show in 2007.
While she had judge Amanda Holden singing along to her My Fair Lady rendition and later admitting she was ‘nearly brought to tears’, Piers Morgan branded her performance ‘charming’ and vowing she’d end up in the West End.
‘That was in my opinion the most professional audition I’ve seen throughout the whole competition,’ Simon added.
And it wasn’t just her audition that wowed the Britain’s Got Talent audience, but Bessie made it all the way to the finals, belting out the likes of Mary Poppins and winning the nation’s hearts.
Sadly, Bessie missed out on the winner’s crown, which went to opera singer Paul Potts, though the judges highlighted how she deserved to be in the West End.
And she certainly did, as two years later she was in Oliver! according to reports, though it’s unclear who she played in the stage musical.

Now nearly two decades later, she’s unrecognisable but has gone on to carve out an impressive acting career.
Her first huge acting role came in 2009 film Nativity! in which she played Christy, alongside the likes of Martin Freeman, Alan Carr, Marc Wootton and Jason Watkins.
That same year, she held a voice acting role in French-American-British children’s series Gaspard and Lisa, playing Victoria. The CITV programme, based on a book of the same name, ran for two seasons.

Bessie went on to play a leading role of Jaz in CITV series My Phone Genie, about a young girl with a genie in her phone. She appeared in all 26 episodes of the 2012 children’s programme.
The following year, Bessie made her BBC debut guest-starring on drama By Any Means.
She has also appeared in a 2016 episode of Casualty as Dani Davis, in Hopelessly Addicted. The episode starred Charles Venn, Sunetra Sarker and S Club 7’s Hannah Spearritt.

The now-28-year-old founded a dance academy in Portsmouth, named after herself, which she’s principal of.
Bessie married her partner Ashley Carter in July 2021, and they welcomed their baby daughter in December 2022.
Britain’s Got Talent starts Saturday April 20 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX
