Former WWE superstar Eric Young needed to visit a plastic surgeon following a brutal match at the TNA Wrestling: Rebellion event.

The 44-year-old former world champion suffered a gruesome injury after a move went badly wrong during his Full Metal Mayhem match with fellow veteran wrestler Frankie Kazarian.

The two rivals delivered a bloody and intense bout befitting of the wild stipulation, but it appears to have come at a cost to Young.

At one point on Saturday night, he took Kaz’s Flux Capacitor move from the top rope to a wooden table in the middle of the ring, but the landing went all wrong as they fell short and he caught his ear on the edge of the table.

Blood immediately started pouring from the side of his head, and it has since been confirmed that his ear need to be ‘attached’ by a plastic surgeon after the match finished.

During her TNA Wrestling medical update on Sunday, broadcaster Gia Miller said: ”Eric Young suffered a severe laceration to the ear. He did see a plastic surgeon who attached the severed ear.’

Not surprisingly, she added that Young ‘is no longer medically cleared to wrestle’, with the news coming after fans flooded social media with messages of concern.

‘Hope EY is okay, man. That was pretty nasty,’ tweeted @WrestlingCovers, while fellow fan @StewartWyatt added: ‘Hopefully EY is ok, that was brutal! #TNARebellion’

‘Hope EY is ok. Great job by the ref to get the match finished so Eric could get medical attention,’ added @sheleheda, with @Jeremy_Peeples replying: ‘Dang his ear got sliced!’

Young has long been a favourite with TNA Wrestling fans ever since his debut for the company 20 years ago, although he also had a rollercoaster run with WWE from 2016 to 2020, before returning again in 2022 for an ill-fated spell.

He has been open about his creative frustrations after an initial exciting spell as part of the SAnitY group with Nikki Cross, Killian Dain and Alexander Wolfe.

Elsewhere at Rebellion, there were more injuries as Gia admitted not everyone escape from the show ‘unscathed’

‘Josh Alexander suffered a severe ear laceration as well as contusions to his ear and eardrum,’ she revealed following the Walking Weapon’s match with Hammerstone.

Alexander ‘is medically cleared to wrestle’, she added, while confirming his opponent is good to go after passing ‘all concussion protocol tests’.

However, Brian Myers – who worked for WWE as Curt Hawkins in the past – is not cleared to wrestle after suffering ‘an undetermined shoulder injury’ as he and Eddie Edwards successfully retained their tag team titles against Speedball Mike Bailey and Trent Seven.

Gia said: ‘He will be undergoing an MRI to determine what’s going on there, but now Brian Myers is not medically cleared to wrestle.’
