Strictly Come Dancing couple make life-changing ‘split second’ decision after baby-Ruth Lawes-Entertainment – Metro

Strictly Come Dancing couple Kevin Clifton and Stacey Dooley have revealed they have made a huge move for their family.

The dancer, 41, and documentarian, 37, met when they won the BBC ballroom contest in 2018 and share daughter Minnie, one.

But the birth of their first child was not the only major life event they underwent in 2023 as Kevin has now revealed the couple secretly relocated to Liverpool.

He said the proximity to Stacey’s mum, who lives in the northern city, helped inform the decision to move.

Kevin explained to the Liverpool Echo: ‘Stacey loves looking at houses on the internet. Looking at interiors and stuff is her favourite thing to do.

‘She just happened to have seen something she liked and thought, “Oh it’s not too far away from my mum.”

‘We went and had a look and the second she walked in was like “I love it and I can really see us living here.” It all happened really quickly and we love it.’

He added: ‘Our little girl is going to be raised as a Scouser.’

Stacey previously spoke to Metro.co.uk about how being a mum had changed her outlook, saying she now felt a ‘deeper empathy’ for other people.

She explained: ‘It’s such a cliché but everything I see now is through a very different lens.

‘And it’s obvious to say Minnie is my world but she’s also taught me a deeper level of empathy for others.

‘I don’t know if it’s conscious or not, but you look at everyone you come across, you’re like, “That’s somebody’s Minnie”. You see how special everybody is. It’s bonkers, motherhood.’

Stacey and Kevin welcomed Minnie in January 2023 and have largely kept their daughter out of the spotlight.

Last summer, mum-of-one Stacey opened up about her decision to not post photos of Minnie’s face online.

Speaking on The One Show in July, the TV presenter said: ‘Kev and I… so, I’ve got a little girl, Minnie, and she is 10/10, magic, golden.

‘Of course, instinctively, I want to show her off to the world.’

On her reservations, Stacey added: ‘But it’s such tricky territory. It’s hard to navigate because she can’t really give true consent yet.

‘I film with loads of kids and I’ve got pals who are public-facing who put their kids out there and that’s totally, totally their choice.

‘But, for the time being, I think we’re just going to wait until she’s a bit older.’

Strictly Come Dancing is expected to return to BBC One later this year.
