Shirley MacLaine appeared in good spirits and stronger than ever as she stepped out on her 90th birthday.

The legendary actress proved she has no intentions of slowing down as she was photographed out and about in Malibu, California.

Wearing a cap reading ‘Grind’ and a casual ensemble, the Hollywood icon sucked on a lollipop after enjoying a chilled lunch at Kirsty’s Café.

While crossing the road, the film star gently held onto a pal’s arm for assistance.

Shirley – who turned the big 9-0 on April 24 – is known and loved for her portrayals of strong-willed and eccentric women on screen, having been rewarded with numerous prestigious accolades for her achievements.

Throughout her career spanning eight decades, she’s won an Oscar, an Emmy, two Baftas, and six Golden Globes, to name just a few.

Speaking recently about her longevity in the industry, Shirley told People: ‘I started my dance training at age three and stopped at about 67. It taught me discipline, loving music, working with people and dealing with pain.’

She went on to express how grateful she is ‘that [she] can keep working.’

‘I have my friends and I am really healthy.’

According to that interview, The Apartment star planned to see in her 90th birthday with an ‘intimate dinner with friends.’

‘We’re getting together and I hope to eat something good,’ she told the publication.

Oh, and when Shirley MacLaine says she’s ‘really healthy’, she means it.

Shirley is having an exciting 2024 thus far, as the actress is set to begin filming a new movie, People Not Places, in Atlantic City.

With the film confirmed in 2019, production kicks off soon and will be directed by The Infiltrator’s Brad Furman.

People Not Places tells the story of a sprightly woman in her twilight years who strikes up an unlikely friendship with a local homeless man while struggling to mend a troubled relationship with her son.

‘It’s a wonderful script and we are getting ready to start and will see what happens,’ she said of the movie.

Not only that, but Shirley is gearing up for the release of her new book, The Wall of Life, which hits shelves on October 22.

‘I have lived a wonderful life and I wanted to share it,’ she noted. ‘All of the photos brought back such wonderful memories.’

This optimistic outlook is far from a new thing for Shirley.

Back in 2019 ahead of her 85th birthday, she had even more beautiful things to say about her life.

‘I have what I consider just a perfect life… I eat what I want, I sleep when I want,’ she said at the time.

She added that being surrounded by animals keeps her feeling at peace too.

‘Learn to amalgamate with nature. I have all the animals around me [in New Mexico]. It’s everything I need to be happy.’

Shirley made her film debut in 1955 when she starred in Alfred Hitchcock’s The Trouble With Harry at the age of just 21.
