Modern Warfare 3’s big mid-season update comes out next week, and introduces two new maps, more Zombies content, and two new modes.
Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone season three has been out for almost a month now, adding such unlikely features as turning your enemies into cannabis joints.
Activision has now detailed a huge mid-season update that will go live from Wednesday, 1 May, at 5pm BST, and it looks good.
Season three’s brand new map is Grime, a 6v6 core map, described as an ‘abandoned corner of London’ alongside a canal.
The update also brings a new, repurposed map called Checkpoint, which is also a 6v6 core map, based on Rebirth Island’s Stronghold.
The two new modes, being added to both Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone, are Minefield and Escort.
Minefield adds an extra feature to different multiplayer modes, which is that eliminated operators drop a proximity mine, that can’t be picked up but is deadly to the operator’s team.

In Escort teams take turns escorting a MAW vehicle, with the aim to hack three points around the map. Players are divided into attacking and defending teams, and the MAW only moves forward when an attacking player is near but moves back if a defending player is close. There are two rounds, so each team gets to attack and defend once.
Additionally, a new weapon, the BAL-27 assault rifle, will be available, which ‘offers quick reloads and a unique firing mechanism whereby the initial four shots favour accuracy before the weapon kicks into a higher fire rate,’ according to Activision.

Zombies mode will see the start of a new chapter in the story, called ‘Saving Dr. Jansen,’ which also introduces a new warlord and three new schematics.
The highlight in Warzone is a new killstreak called Foresight, which can be found as rare loot and gives you the ability to see all future gas circles. The other notable new feature is the Specialist Perk Package, which makes all perks available to you.
