Claudia Winkleman is close to breaking our hearts, as she’s made a shock confession about wanting to stop The Traitors.

The murder mystery gameshow has become a roaring success after first hitting our screens in 2022.

Two seasons later, with some blistering betrayals and an obsession with Claudia’s iconic jumpers, we’re still just as hooked – but the Strictly Come Dancing legend has admitted she’s wary of carrying on.

Speaking ahead of the return of another of her hit series’, The Piano, the 52-year-old said on Friday’s Good Morning Britain: ‘I was reluctant to do the second, and now I’m extra reluctant to do the third.

‘Like guys, just leave it! It did okay, just leave it.’

She joked to Richard Arnold: ‘They just say no, the head of the BBC just leant forward and took my temperature.’

Claudia previously admitted she wanted to kill The Traitors off after just one season.

‘I said that’s more than enough,’ she recalled. ‘I said let’s stop, because the first series was so overwhelming for us, the fact people liked it and wanted to talk about it.

‘And I thought it was just so perfect, let’s just leave it,’ she continued.

‘Isn’t that rather lovely?’ Claudia remembered thinking about the idea of not doing another season – but luckily the BBC stepped in.

‘The BBC were like, “No, what’s the matter with you?!”‘ she added.

Thankfully, the BBC didn’t listen to Claudia, and applications have since closed for series three.

Harry Clark won The Traitors season two, walking away with £95,150 (Picture: BBC/Studio Lambert/Paul Chappells)

In the aftermath of a season full of Bafta-worthy momentsshocking betrayals, and that dreaded fizzy rosé, Traitor Harry Clark walked away with £95,150.

6.9million viewers tuned in to witness Harry’s ultimate gameplaying, with an average of 5.5m.

He followed in the footsteps of season one winners, Faithful’s Aaron Evans, Meryl Williams and Hannah Byczkowski, who split the £101,050.

Meanwhile, it’s since been rumoured that a celebrity version is landing on our screens in 2025, following Love Island star Ekin-Su Culculoglu and former politician John Bercow taking part in the US version.

The Traitors is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
