Blue Ivy is set to make her big screen debut before she’s even turned 13 after nabbing a starring role in the upcoming Lion King prequel alongside her mom, Beyonce.
The stunning trailer for Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King dropped earlier today, ahead of the film’s release date on December 20, 2024.
The film serves as a prequel to the 2019 live-action version, with Beyonce reprising her role as Nala beside Aaron Pierre, who is taking over voicing duties for the titular character.
Not quite content with stealing the show at last year’s Renaissance tour, Blue will be starring as Kiara, daughter of Nala and Simba, aka Donald Glover – Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen will be returning as Timon and Pumbaa respectively.
‘This story begins far beyond the mountains and the shadows,’ a voiceover shared as footage of the young lion played out.
‘On the other side of the light, a lion was born without a drop of nobility in his blood. A lion who would change our lives forever.

‘The earth will shake. Destiny awaits you.’
At the very end of the trailer, a message read: ‘Introducing Blue Ivy Carter with Beyonce Knowles-Carter’.
Fans were left in awe over the news of Blue’s debut, with many celebrating her starring role on social media.
Unpacking the announcement on Twitter, King Dom posted: ‘Introducing Blue Ivy Carter? WITH Beyonce? I’m not ready.’.

‘I SCREAMED WHEN I SAW INTRODUCING BLUE IVY CARTER,’ K yelled.
TWDJenn added: ‘Introducing Blue Ivy Carter with BEYONCE of course I will be seated.’
Honestly, same.

Lennie James, Thandiwe Newton, Tiffany Boone, Mads Mikkelsen and Kagiso Lediga have also joined the cast.
The upcoming flick will focus on the Mufasa’s journey to becoming king of Pride Land, as well as his relationship with brother Scar (Kelvin Harrison Jr).
An official synopsis reads: ‘Simba, having become king of the Pride Lands, is determined for his cub to follow in his paw prints while the origins of his late father Mufasa are explored.’
Sadly, we have a slight wait ahead of us as the flick will be hitting the cinemas at the end of the year.
Mufasa: The Lion King will be released in cinemas on December 20, 2024.
