Love Island 2023 winners Kai Fagan and Sanam Harrinanan are engaged to be married, making them the second crowned couple in the ITV show’s history to do so.

Kai, 25, and Sanam, also 25, sent sparks flying in last year’s series when they met in Casa Amor.

One year on, and their whirlwind romance has well and truly defied the Love Island odds.

Sharing the happy news with fans on social media, Kai wrote: ‘Introducing the next Mrs Fagan. Beautiful, Caring, Loving and Smart are just some of the words that describe you. I love loving you, I love you and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.’

It looked like a very romantic engagement, as white-suited Kai got down on one knee in a punting boat with Sanam, also wearing a white dress, looking well and truly shocked.

Another photo saw them kissing in the boat with the punter looking on in the background, while a third showed Kai popping a bottle of bubbly to mark the moment.

Fellow Love Island contestants all flocked to send their congratulations, as Ron Hall wrote: ‘This is the best news EVER! Congratulations you two! ❤️’

Meanwhile, Lana Jenkins said: ‘Oh my god!!! Amazing news congratulations both of you!! So happy for you .’

Sammy James wrote, ‘Omg guys!!! So happy for you, congratulations!!!,’ while India Polak added: ‘Congratulations omg!!!’

Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu also sent her congratulations to the couple.

I’m a Celebrity’s Giovanna Fletcher also shared an excitable comment, as she said: ‘Waaaaaaaaaaah!!!! Huge huge huge congratulations! I’m so happy for you!! Xxx’

While Molly Mae and Tommy Fury were runners up in the 2019 series – and are also now engaged – season two winners Cara De La Hoyde and Nathan Massey were the first winners to tie the knot and are still going strong eight years later.

After meeting in the ITV show’s Casa Amor villa, the couple moved in with each other and even set up a joint YouTube channel so the could continue to share their relationship with fans.

Talking about their first home, the couple admitted they didn’t have a massive budget to kit it out, and explained how in order to keep costs down they shopped at charity shops and upcycled.

While chatting about her experience meeting Kai during a pre-results show interview with Love Island host Maya Jama, Sanam slipped that she loved Kai -even then. Awrh.

Sanam said: ‘For me, it was always Kai, like I always said he was my number one.

‘Obviously, he is a very attractive guy but I fell in love with everything.

‘Everything about him, I just, I just loved it. I really didn’t think I was gonna be here. I’m going to cry!’

Noticing her mistake, Sanam laughed away the comment as audience members oo-ed and ah-ed over the moment.

The pair beat fellow couples Lana Jenkins and Ron Hall and Samie Elishi and Tom Clare, in second and third place respectively, to be crowned winners.
