Coleen Nolan said she was left ‘constantly looking over her shoulder’ after a frightening experience with a stalker.

The ITV star recalled her own experience with a man who believed he was married to her and claimed he had left a bomb in the theatre she was performing in.

Coleen discussed the ordeal after the panel on Loose Women today spoke about Netflix show Baby Reindeer, which is based on its creator Richard Gadd’s real-life stalker hell.

The broadcaster said she and her sisters, who were in the pop group The Nolans, had several stalkers throughout their career, describing it as ‘the scariest thing.’

Recalling one stalker, the 59-year-old said: ‘You know, me and my sisters had a scary guy stalking us. You know, thinking that we were all – he had this thing that we were all married to him psychologically.’

‘He would then kick off when he found out we’d had boyfriends and then he threatened to put a bomb in one of the theatres we were in and then the bomb squad came in and actually caught him.

‘And you know there’s another part of me, because he then gets taken away and had severe mental health issues and then there was an element with me where I kind of felt sorry for him because they don’t mean to do it.’

Baby Reindeer follows Richard Gadd as aspiring stand-up comic Donny as he meets a woman named Martha (Jessica Gunning), who subsequently develops an obsession with him.

However, since the series landed on Netflix, internet detectives have been trying to uncover the real person who inspired Martha – despite Richard urging them not to.

In a statement on social media, he wrote: ‘Please don’t speculate on who the real-life people could be. That’s not the point of our show.’

Richard’s friend, Sean Foley, recently wrote on X that he had contacted the police after facing false allegations of inspiring the character Darrien on Baby Reindeer, who commits sexual assault.

The actor and writer stated: ‘Police have been informed and are investigating all defamatory abusive and threatening posts against me.’

A lawyer also pointed out to LadBible that ‘seeking out and potentially naming individuals involved in a case, especially if they turn out to be the wrong person, carries significant legal and ethical implications’.

Mark Woloshak, the Head of Litigation at Howells Solicitors, explained that trying to seek out the real-life inspirations for characters on the show could end up causing ‘unwarranted harm’ to people who have been ‘wrongly identified’.

He stressed that individuals who have absolutely no connection to the series could end up with their ‘privacy and safety’ being put at risk.

Loose Women airs weekdays from 12.30pm on ITV.
