Princess Anne wants to appear on Strictly Come Dancing according to professional dancer Nadiya Bychkova.

The Princess Royal, 73, is apparently a Strictly fan and told Nadiya, 34, she ‘wants to go on the show’ when the pair met at a ballet event last month.

What’s more, professional dancer Nadiya – who joined Strictly in 2017 and over the years has been paired with the likes of soap star Davood Ghadami, footballer David James, and Blue’s Lee Ryan – is going to suggest the senior royal to producers.

‘She is a Strictly fan and she wants to go on the show – she told me,’ Nadiya revealed of Princess Anne while talking to The Sun.

‘She did say that,’ she confirmed, continuing: ‘I think she would be good – there’s a lot of personality there, isn’t there?’

The star added that she’s put in a good word for Anne to producers, which she said professional dancers often do.

‘We get that privilege, and because of the show, we end up in circles with celebrities who love Strictly,’ she said.

‘So whenever we speak with the producers I say, “What about this person?, or, “What about that person?”’

The dancer explained how the royal family ‘love’ Strictly and watch it ‘all the time’.

It comes after the Queen announced she’s one of Strictly’s ‘greatest fans’ after star Johannes Radebe presented her with a pair of steel-shod shoes at an event in Cambridge in February.

Princess Anne isn’t the only royal interested in trying out for the glitter ball trophy, as professional dancer Johannes Radebe revealed Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh also expressed her longing to participate in the dance competition.

He said: ‘She would love the opportunity to [compete in Strictly Come Dancing] but she can’t obviously. She has personally told me this.’

There are already rumours about who might appear on the upcoming season of Strictly Come Dancing.

Hannah Waddingham, Nicola Peltz, Sophie Morgan, Jill Scott, and Phillip Schofield have all been rumoured to appear on the 2024 season of the show.

This year will mark 20 years since Strictly Come Dancing came to TV screens.
