While rumours over a royal family member taking part in Strictly Come Dancing are always swirling, one young prince’s very specific request has now been revealed.

Strictly legend Shirley Ballas has recalled how Prince Louis, 6, and Princess Charlotte, 8, visited the set last year, where the youngest member of the family wanted a certain gift.

The adorable prince has often stolen the show at royal events, looking bored and pulling funny faces and even being told off by his mother in public.

And he was just as playful behind-the-scenes at Strictly, head judge Shirley revealed.

She said: ‘They are beautiful. When they visited we had these crowns on set, so I thought it would be a nice idea to give the little girl a crown and I got him a nice box of sweets.’

But things didn’t quite go to plan, with Louis instead wanting his older sister’s present.

Shirley continued to The Sun: ‘He went, “I want one of those” and pointed at the crown.

‘So we had to go and find him a little crown. They’re beautifully polite children. They had an absolute ball.’

‘We have photos, but I didn’t want to post them. I think it’s more private for her. I was just glad she was able to come in and have a great day. They all watch Strictly,’ Shirley added.

The Princess of Wales and her children aren’t the only royals who are fans of Strictly however, as recent reports claimed Princess Anne wants to appear on the BBC One competition.

According to pro dancer Nadiya Bychkova, The Princess Royal, 73, is apparently a Strictly fan said she ‘wants to go on the show’ when the pair met at a ballet event last month.

Johannes Radebe also revealed Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh has expressed her longing to participate in the dance competition.

But Shirley’s had her sights set on a different royal, after his stint on another reality competition.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk in 2022, shortly after Mike Tindall’s appearance on I’m A Celebrity, Shirley said, when asked which celeb she’d like to see in the ballroom in the future: ‘It’s got to be somebody from the royal family, and I’ve been watching I’m A Celebrity and I do like Mr Tindall.

‘I think, come on, come on now, that guy. I’ve been looking at his neckline, I want to say to him, “You have a beautiful ballroom posture.”

‘I think we are next.’

Strictly Come Dancing is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
