Millie Gibson has booked her next big role before we’ve even seen her first full series of Doctor Who.

The 19-year-old actor is certainly busy right now, as on top of the BBC sci-fi show, she will also be starring in The Forsyte Saga.

The six-part series will be based on the novels by John Galsworthy of the same name that were published between 1906 and 1921, and follow the leading members of a large upper-middle-class English family. They are only a few generations removed from their farmer ancestors, so are aware they are perceived as ‘new money’ which drives some of the plots.

The stimuli have been given the TV treatment twice in the last 60 years. On the BBC version, which began airing in 1967, the finale was watched by 18 million, and the ITV show in 2002 featured Damian Lewis and Gina McKee. It was also adapted into a movie called That Forsyte Woman in 1949.

The news of its third TV version was released by Deadline, who confirmed Poldark writer Debbie Horsfield would be writing the adaption, which is set to become a returning series.

It is PBS Masterpiece, who is behind the production as well as ITV Studios’ Mammoth Screen.

Joining Millie in the impressive cast is Eleanor Tomlinson who had a lead role in Poldark. She excitedly shared the news on Instagram alongside a selfie with the novel. ‘Let’s go!’ Eleanor wrote. Francesca Annis (Dune, Lillie), Stephen Moyer (True Blood), and Jack Devenport (The Morning Show) also have prominent parts.

Millie will be playing the love interest of Joshua Orpin’s character Soames, who is the grandchild of the matriarch Ann (Francesca).

The series, which is yet to have a broadcaster attached, is a prequel to the events of the first book.

While we wait to see Millie in the role, we can watch as the companion to the Time Lord.

We’ve seen former Coronation Street actress Millie as Ruby Sunday in the Christmas special of Doctor Who, and her first full series (number 14) will be coming later this month.

There was speculation that Millie had been dropped from her role, before the introduction of another new companion played by Andor star Varada Sethu.

Russell T Davies commented on the situation to Metro.co.uk: ‘It’s tricky because you can’t answer online rumours. Sometimes they’re lies, sometimes they’re true. Sometimes they’re false, sometimes they’re just exaggerations.’

It’s been confirmed that Millie’s character Ruby will return for the 15th season of Doctor Who, alongside Ncuti Gatwa and Varada.
