Fortnite is celebrating Star Wars Day with a new world, quests, and skins inspired by the Star Wars universe, across all four game modes.

Last week, a roadmap predicting the content planned for all four Fortnite modes, for the rest of the year, leaked. It could’ve been fake but it quickly gained credibility when Billie Eilish confirmed that she would to be part of Fortnite Festival, just as predicted.

The roadmap also predicted that Star Wars would come to Lego Fortnite in May, which has now been confirmed as well, although the sci-fi classic is taking over the Battle Royale, Festival, and Rocket Racing modes too.

The free update goes live on Friday, 3 May – the day before Star Wars Day – and introduces a new world and storyline in Lego Fortnite. Chewbacca and Darth Vader will also be added in a new quest in Battle Royale, a cantina-style setting will become available in Festival, and Anakin and Darth Maul skins added to Rocket Racing.

The highlight of the update is the new Star Wars world coming to Lego Fortnite, in which Rebel and Empire ships crash into the island, which will remain in the game even after the update ends.

It’s your mission to rebuild and survive as part of the Rebel Alliance against the Empire, using weapons such as lightsabers, thermal detonators, Wookie bowcasters, and DL-44 (Han Solo’s gun) and E-11 (Stormtroopers’) blasters.

In Battle Royale, a new quest prompts you to save Chewbacca from the Empire, who will then give you a bowcaster and follow you into battle if you save him. You’ll also face off against Darth Vader in a boss fight, and if you defeat him you get to grab his lightsaber.

An area inspired by the Mos Eisley cantina is coming to Fortnite Festival, where you can get the seven string Hallikset guitar, after completing seven of the new Star Wars quests.

New quests are coming to Rocket Racing too, where you’ll get an Anakin Podracer decal by completing four of them and a Darth Maul decal if you complete eight quests.

All the new quests across the four modes go live at 2pm BST, and there will be a purchasable event pass, costing 1,400 V-Bucks (about £10), which includes Lego Fortnite builds and a Chewbacca skin in Battle Royale.

Fortnite has collaborated with Star Wars before, often on May 4 (May the 4th be with you, do you see?). That was before Fortnite got so many new modes though, with this being the first major franchise to get an update across all four.
