This Morning star Lynsey Crombie has revealed the panic she felt when she was diagnosed with melanoma.
The ‘Queen of Clean’ who regularly appears on the ITV programme to share her household hacks, was diagnosed with the form of skin cancer after having two moles removed from her leg.
She’d noticed they hadn’t been there previously, and has now shared a warning to fans after her own diagnosis.
Recalling the moment she was told about the melanoma, Lynsey, 44, said: ‘I was actually working in America and I got a call to say it’s Melanoma.
‘I just panicked and put the phone down on him and couldn’t talk to him, I didn’t even know what to say. You hear the word cancer and you panic.’
Having had two operations, Lynsey is now waiting on the results for a growth that she discovered on her back a few weeks ago.
Talking about the effect the diagnosis has had on her mental health, she continued to The Express: ‘It’s been really difficult if I’m honest, I feel like a bit of a ticking time bomb.

‘The thing is with a lot of cancers is that you can have it removed, you can have chemotherapy but with melanoma, you have to have skin checks for five years.
‘I can’t say I’m cancer-free until five years down the line.’
Following her diagnosis, she’s now warning fans to ‘be more vigilant’ and check their bodies for any similar signs, saying people are coming to her for advice and sending pictures of their moles.
Last month, Lynsey revealed on Instagram that her latest holiday was ‘filled with gratitude and caution’ after her battle with ‘invasive Melanoma’.
She wrote: ‘Reflecting on a different kind of holiday for me this year, one filled with gratitude and caution after my battle with invasive Melanoma last year.

‘During my trip to Greece, I noticed two new moles on my knee, prompting concern.
‘Despite reassurances from doctors, my gut told me otherwise. And it turns out, my intuition was right.’
She went on: ‘This trip has marked my first time in the sun since surgery, and I was understandably anxious.
‘I am taking every precaution, covering up, wearing a hat (even though I’m not typically a ‘hat person’), and religiously applying factor 50 sunscreen every hour.
‘But I am still managing to have a fabulous time, thanks to careful planning and a touch of self-confidence boost from the fake stuff.
‘While the sun-kissed glow might not be as ‘real,’ it certainly brought me peace of mind, ensuring an even tan without the risk.
‘Here’s to soaking up the sun safely and cherishing every moment of wellness.’
Her post was showered in support and fans sharing they had been checked themselves after hearing Lynsey’s story, with @claire_proc86 writing: ‘It’s thanks to you that I went to my GP about a new mole which turned out to be a melanoma. We are going abroad in the school holidays & I’m a bit anxious about being in the sun but this post has reassured me.’
@leanehamilton10 added: ‘As someone who just had a mole removed today and is awaiting her results, I applaud you.’
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1.
