Lionel Richie has shared an update on King Charles’ health amid his ongoing cancer battle.
The monarch was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer in February, and continues to receive outpatient care.
The 75-year-old returned to royal duties earlier this week, appearing at a cancer unit in Fitzrovia beside Queen Camilla.
Lionel, who performed at his coronation concert last year, opened up about how he’s doing while attending the King’s Trust Global Gala in New York on Thursday.
Appearing on the red carpet, the All Night Long musician told People Magazine: ‘Happily I can say he is doing fantastic. Again, I understand, he needs to sit still, you know what I’m saying.
‘The most important part is he is doing well. He’s back to his duties and so therefore, I wouldn’t want the first thing for him to do is come over [to the US] – let’s not prove anything here.’

‘Believe me, my question [from him] now is, “How was it?” After I finish tonight, I’m going to get that call saying, “Well, how was it?”’

The Palace has warned that his diary will not be a full summer program, but his attendance will be announced nearer the time and ‘subject to doctors’ advice’, with ‘adaptations made where necessary to minimize risk’ to his recovery.
According to PA, It is understood the warmer weather would allow events to be staged outside and lower the risk posed by other people that many cancer patients face.
