My ‘worn once’ shoes from Vinted arrived battered, ‘blood’ stained & different sizes – but the seller took the biscuit

A WOMAN who bought a pair of “worn once” shoes on Vinted was left stunned when they arrived battered and stained with what appeared to be blood.

The seller had listed the tan wedged sandals as “very good” condition on the app, and claimed she’d only worn them on one occasion.

The seller called Helen ‘disrespectful’ for ‘raising an issue’ with the shoesFacebook/Vinted Rants, Help & Advice

However, when she opened the parcel, Helen was shocked by what she saw.

And when she contacted the seller to complain, she was the one that ended up being called “disrespectful” for “raising an issue”.

Posting on the Vinted Rants, Help & Advice group on Facebook, Helen shared pictures of the shoes.

“Would you call these very good worn once?” she wrote.

“Apparently I’m disrespectful for raising an issue and and saying the bottoms are a mess and the stain looks like blood!”

Helen went on to add that while the seller had initially insisted she “wouldn’t lie”, in the next she accused the buyer of doing it herself.

“In the 2 minutes between collecting, opening and raising issue in my car!” she continued in the Facebook post.

The seller also said that while Helen can return the shoes, she will have to do so at her own expense.

And while she’d also said that the “photo showed the bottoms” of the shoes, Helen said it only showed “part of the bottom of one shoe”.

Helen added the woman has been “beyond vile” about the situation, and noted it’s “bizarre” as she’s got almost all five star reviews on her Vinted account.

Once Helen posted the pictures on Facebook, someone else then noticed that the shoes appeared to be different sizes – and it looked as though someone had possibly burnt the size on one shoe to conceal the fact it was different.

People were quick to comment on the post, with one writing: “Worn once for a marathon?!”

“Was she a pirate with one leg?” another asked.

“I mean come on what’s wrong with people desperate to sell their no good for nothing tat?

“Bonus was you got a blood stain, no doubt from all the hard work being on one leg!”

Do you need to pay tax on items sold on Vinted?

QUICK facts on tax from the team at Vinted…

The only time that an item might be taxable is if it sells for more than £6,000 and there is profit (sells for more than you paid for it). Even then, you can use your capital gains tax-free allowance of £3,000 to offset it.
Generally, only business sellers trading for profit (buying goods with the purpose of selling for more than they paid for them) might need to pay tax. Business sellers who trade for profit can use a tax-free allowance of £1,000, which has been in place since 2017.

“Blood is unacceptable, biohazard,” a third commented.

“She could have at least wiped it off! £1 or not.

“People wouldn’t buy anything (s**t) stained for a pound.

“Same principle, I’d absolutely complain to Vinted about this seller.”

“Just report it and Vinted will send you a refund,” someone else wrote.

“They don’t though,” Helen replied.

“Policy is unless sender agrees to refund without return or pay return postage, you have to return at your own cost!”
