“These pure cotton trousers are a comfy pull-on style for effortless dressing,” the online product description reads.

“Flattering straight fit. Falls to a stylish ankle-grazer length, with neat rolled hems.

“The elasticated high waist ensures a flattering look and two side pockets are a practical final touch.”

The trousers are available in four colours; Hunter Green, Black, Buff and Blue/Grey.

Sizes range from six to 24 and they are available in petite, regular and long to suit all shapes and lengths.

For just £19.50, it’s no surprise these trousers are selling out quickly.

Granny MacK, who purchased a pair last month, left a review calling them the “perfect summer trousers”.

Her comment read: “I’ve given these cotton trousers five stars as they are great value for money.

“Quite thin cotton but ideal for the summer and what a good price.

“Elasticated waist for comfort and I found them pretty true to size. I have them in every colour.”

KWgran called them a “cool [pair of] trousers”.

Her review read: “Trousers lovely and light and will be nice and cool in warmer weather.

“I ordered long length as I’m not keen on ankle grazers and they are just right as full length.

“I also ordered a pair in short which are just right for me as crops. Very pleased with my purchases.”

Lynnlbv described the trousers as “comfy” and explained they offered a “great fit” and the “nice lightweight fabric” is great “for the summer”.

Wyxs thought the trousers were “perfect”. Her review read: “Perfect fit, perfect weight, perfect holiday packing.”

Elizabethann45 also added them to her wardrobe. She said: “Good basic summer trouser.

“The light blue colour is just right for spring/summer. For the price they are a good buy.”

£39.50 is the magic price customers are happy to pay for dresses and jeans.

Maddy Evans

Gilli99 called them “practical” and said: “Thin comfortable trousers – good for walking/outdoors/holidays. Quite lightweight. Useful.”

As for how M&S has managed to dominate the ladieswear section on the high street, Maddy Evans, Director of Womenswear explained the challenge.

“We [the team] have a pretty good sense of the aesthetic,” she said.

“We are trying to perfect every single detail on a dress, so it will fit and flatter most body shapes. We look at everything.”

The team identified a number of ‘magic prices’ including £39.50 for dresses and jeans, where customers are happy to buy.

And clothes are “flying out of the shops” because the brand “sees a trend, jumps on it and tests it really quickly” before it hits the rails for customers to snap up, This Is Money revealed.

Hottest trends for Spring/Summer 2024

Fabulous’ Fashion Editor, Clemmie Fieldsend has shared the biggest trends on the high street and runway this Spring/Summer.

SHORTS
I know, shorts for summer. Groundbreaking. But you’ll be seeing them everywhere this year, from micro hotpants to long, Bermuda styles in denim to tailoring and everything in between they’re a must have for every occasion.
WHITE
White usually goes hand-in-hand with your summer holidays but whether you’re in the UK or abroad you’ll be seeing an abundance of head-to-toe white looks.
The high street is already a, erm, white wash with the trend that includes shoes and accessories.
HIGH SHINE
Beit metallics or sequins, for 2024 sparkle isn’t just for Christmas.Expect to see shimmering looks at festivals, weddings or even a barbeque in your neighbours back garden teamed with block brights or simple whites.
BAGGY BOTTOMS
Wide leg and loose jeans have gripped our wardrobes from autumn to winter, but as we move into warmer months expect baggy trousers. From crisp cotton to lightweight linen, fluid trews should have a firm place in your wardrobe.
PUMPS
Ballet pumps and Mary Jane’s have been clawing their way back into our good books for a while now, but for summer they’re looking less ballerina and more beach ready.
Woven styles and mesh textures are hot off the catwalk and onto the high street, think the 2024 jelly shoe.
GO GIRLY
All things romantic and girly are in for spring with sheer fabrics, pastel shades of blue, yellow and pink gripping the runway. Embellished with bows, lace or flowers, most looks should have an element of being hyper ‘girly’.
