BBC Antiques Roadshow expert Theo Burrell has updated fans after her terminal cancer diagnosis.

The 37-year-old star, who joined the long-running BBC series in 2018, revealed in June that she had been diagnosed with ‘an incurable aggressive grade four brain tumour’ following the birth of her son Jonah.

Theo was told she had two years to live when Jonah was just one year old and she’s campaigned on social media to raise awareness and share her story with fans ever since.

In her most recent update, Theo announced she will be abseiling in order to raise funds for Brain Tumour Research, as she described to fans her emotions since her diagnosis.

‘On Saturday 25th, I’m heading to Aberdeen and abseiling down the King’s Tower, all 131 feet of it! The last time I did anything similar I was 19 – not exactly yesterday! If you can help me raise some funds (all for @braintumourrsch ) I’d be very grateful – link in bio. Thank you,’ she said on Instagram.

She went on: ‘Today also marks 23 months since I was diagnosed with brain cancer. I really had no idea whether I would still be here when I was given the news that I had a brain tumour. I didn’t take a life expectancy, but I know my chances of still being well (so far) with no regrowth (so far) were not particularly favourable.

‘I continue to find the mixture of emotions a rollercoaster, and little landmines of fear and upset go off without any warning at times. Behind the scenes I’m still working on tangible changes for us all and progress continues in Scotland which we could all benefit from.

‘As I head into a scan this afternoon, and the anxiety about my upcoming results looms, I’m hanging onto my old friend hope to see me through.’

Theo thanked fans who wished her positive scan results, as follower @fam.0507 wrote: ‘Thinking of you Theo, you are brave and inspiring, grateful for your posts.’

In February, Theo revealed to fans that her symptoms – fatigue, headaches, nausea, dizziness – are intensifying, making life more difficult.

Alongside a photo of her Jack Russell Pip napping, the ceramics, fine furniture and art expert wrote: ‘So my recent trips away are definitely catching up with me – do not let my photos fool you, the fatigue, the headaches, the nausea, the dizziness are all still there, and when I’m tired these symptoms/side effects really make themselves known.’

Last year Theo opened up on the devastation of her glioblastoma diagnosis aged 35.

‘Receiving my diagnosis, at the age of 35, when my son was just one year old, was devastating. Overnight everything had changed,’ she told The Daily Mail.

‘Suddenly I’d gone from being a healthy person in the middle of my life with a new baby to having incurable cancer with maybe one or two years left to live.’
