A female news anchor has slammed a viewer who tried to shame her for an ‘inappropriate’ clothing choice.

With a career spanning 20 years, Narela Jacobs presents the national news bulletins for the programmes 10 News First: Midday, as well as 10 News First: Afternoons, in Australia.

However, this week a disgruntled viewer attempted to take aim after taking issue with a top she wore on air.

On Tuesday Narelda shared an email that had been sent to her after a broadcast.

It read: ‘Feedback: Inappropriate dress sense for reading the news. Cleavage is for the nightclubs.’

Responding to it publicly, she didn’t hold back.

‘Yes, we still receive emails like this. Yes, it went to the entire newsroom. Yes, I was on air at the time. Yes, it is intended to shame and humiliate me. No, what I’m wearing is not inappropriate but your email sure is,’ she captioned the post, which she shared with a photo of her apparently too low-cut top.

She was quickly met with support by others, including former MasterChef judge Melissa Leong, who wrote: ‘File under “When you really hate yourself, so you decide to email random strangers to tell them”.’

Former Olympian and newsreader Gian Rooney also weighed in.

‘Yep. The number of emails the newsroom used to get attacking everything about my appearance when I was presenting the weather was incredible…,’ she shared.

MasterChef star Sarah Tiong quipped in response to the troll: ‘Subject: Narelda Jacobs. News. Feedback: Always stunning, informed and intelligent.’

Over the past few years, Narelda has faced several emotional moments live on air when reporting the news.

In February, she fought back tears when announced the alleged murder of her colleague Jesse Baird and his partner Luke Davies.

Two years earlier, she broke down while speaking about the alleged murder of her 15-year-old nephew Cassius Turvey, who was attacked while walking home from school.
