Sharon Stone has been praised for putting Ed Balls ‘in his place’ after he probed about her claims a producer advised her to have sex with her co-star.
The Basic Instinct legend, 66, alleged that while working on 1993’s Sliver the producer Robert Evans, who died in 2019, had suggested she sleep with William ‘Billy’ Baldwin to improve his performance.
On today’s Good Morning Britain, former Labour politician Ed, 57, inquired how she now felt about Evans’ comments, with Sharon responding that she felt ‘set up’ and asked for a new question.
Sharon’s ‘eloquent’ shutting down of Ed was hailed by ITV viewers on social media, with X user @JamieAdStories stating: ‘Sharon Stone just put him in his place. #gmb Good for you, Sharon!’
Agreeing, @wrinklytimelord added: ‘Ed Balls clearly has all the subtlety of an elephant fart. Well done Sharon Stone for putting him in his place #GMB.’
@EmilyMulti also said: ‘Sharon Stone shutting Ed RIGHT down very eloquently. Liking this woman more and more.. #gmb.’

The Casino actress had been on GMB to discuss her new career as an artist but during their conversation, Ed had also asked about her experience on Silver.
He said: ‘The fact that Hollywood producer Robert Evans advised you to have sex with your fellow lead William Baldwin in the ’93 movie Sliver to improve his performance.
‘When you look back at those times, how do you feel today about what producers said to you back then?’
Calmly but firmly, Sharon responded: ‘First of all, you’re setting me up with the “did you beat your wife yet” comment so first of all I’m not going to validate the statement that you just made as if it was true. So we’re not going to do that to start with.
‘So I’d like to restart with a new question somewhere else.’

Ed then changed his question to ask about how she had been treated in Hollywood more generally.
Sharon first named Evans as the producer who advised her to sleep with her co-star while speaking to Louis Theroux on his podcast.
She had previously shared this story in her 2021 memoir, the Beauty of Living Twice but didn’t share the identities of anyone involved until this year, also naming Billy as the male lead.
After hearing the podcast, the 61-year-old actor took to X to refute her claims that Evans had pressured her into sleeping with him.
He wrote: ‘Not sure why Sharon Stone keep talking about me all these years later? Does she still have a crush on me or is she still hurt after all these years because I shunned her advances?

‘Did she say to her gal pal Janice Dickinson the day after I screen tested and ran into them on our MGM Grand flight back to New York… “I’m gonna make him fall so hard for me, it’s gonna make his head spin.” ???’
With his response, Billy shared a picture of him and Sharon during an intimate scene in the movie.
He added: ‘I have so much dirt on her it would make her head spin but I’ve kept quiet. The story of the meeting I had with Bob Evans imploring him allow me to choreograph the final sex scene in the photo below so I wouldn’t have to kiss Sharon is absolute legend.
‘Wonder if I should write a book and tell the many, many disturbing, kinky and unprofessional tales about Sharon? That might be fun.’
Fans criticised the Backdraft actor, to which he responded: ‘It’s been going on for decades. I’ve never said a word.
‘Isn’t everyone entitled to defend themselves if they’ve been attacked by a man… or a woman?’
In Sliver, Sharon took on the role of Carly Norris, who moved into an apartment building in New York and soon started a sexual relationship with neighbour Zeke Hawkins (Billy) – despite repeated warnings from their fellow tenant, Jack Landsford (Tom Berenger).
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
