Miranda Cosgrove has said she does not feel ‘super safe’ in her own home eight years after her stalker set himself on fire in her garden.

Cosgrove, who shot to fame in 00s kids’ shows Drake & Josh and iCarly, recalled her ordeal after watching Netflix drama Baby Reindeer.

In 2016, a man who had been stalking her entered her yard, set himself alight, and fatally shot himself.

The stalker had previously shot but not killed a woman who resembled Cosgrove, 30, outside her home in LA.

She still lives at the same property but said often stays with her parents as it brings back painful memories.

Recalling her stalker hell, she told Bustle: That’s another reason why I go back and forth to my parents’ house so much.

‘I just don’t feel super safe in that house. For two years after it happened, I wouldn’t really stay there.

‘Then I got into a relationship and because that person was there with me, I was less scared. But I don’t really like being there on my own that much.’

Cosgrove said that her ordeal did not affect her ability to watch Baby Reindeer, based on creator Richard Gadd’s experience with a stalker.

Praising Gadd’s honesty, she said: ‘I feel like if that were me, having to go back through your most terrible experiences and then try to act them [out], that’d be so hard.’

In Baby Reindeer, Gadd’s comedian character is stalked by a woman named Martha Scott (played by Martha Scott) after he serves her a free cup of tea in the pub where he works.

After the show became a huge hit on Netflix, internet sleuths began tracking down the ‘real Martha’s’ identity, despite Gadd’s pleas to preserve her anonymity.

A Scottish lawyer, Fiona Harvey, 58, believed to be the inspiration behind the character, said she felt ‘forced’ into telling her side of the story on Piers Morgan Uncensored.

On the TalkTV show, she repeatedly denied stalking Gadd in real life, describing the show as ‘a work of fiction, a work of hyperbole.’

When Morgan asked if she will ‘categorically be taking legal action’, she replied: ‘Absolutely, against both him (Gadd) and Netflix.’

Harvey said she had instructed lawyers in part, but said ‘we want to explore all the options out there, there are a number of people to sue.’

Baby Reindeer is available to stream on Netflix.
