Britain’s Got Talent viewers have been left in tears watching a blind couple perform a rousing rendition of a beloved song.

On Sunday night’s episode of the ITV talent series, soprano Denise Leigh and pianist Stefan Andrusyschyn stepped out on stage.

After sharing the sweet story of their meeting 18 years ago, in which Stefan asked Denise for the time on the Tube not realising she was also blind, they went on to strike up a relationship.

‘What are the chances of a blind man asking a blind woman for the time on the train,’ she quipped, leaving the judges and audiences in fits of laughter.

Although Denise then went on to explain she was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago, she then joked treatment saw ‘half of my favourite boob taken off’, leading those watching on to think the couple might be a comedy act.

However, when it came time to audition, Stefan sat down at a piano while his wife sung Climb Every Mountain from The Sound of Music.

Judge Bruno Tonioli was left in tears, while Simon Cowell said: ‘Without people like you this show is nothing. I think you are both amazing people.’

Alesha Dixon said Denise’s vocals were ‘flawless’, with Bruno saying he ‘admired and was inspired’ by the pair.

The same sentiment was echoed by those watching on at home.

‘Denise & Stefan are my early favourites for the win!’ Ryan posted on X.

‘Wow the blind couple were absolutely brilliant. What a voice,’ Mike shared.

‘The blind couple are my winners. How amazingly inspirational,’ Ellen added.

Meanwhile Sandra added: ‘I think we’ve just seen the winners. I also don’t think they played the sympathy card. A real genuine talented couple whose family were so proud. Should’ve been a golden buzzer.’

Before performing, Denise also joked that she was a ‘bit nervous and needed a wee’ before impressing with her vocals.

Britain’s Got Talent is streaming on ITVX.
