A new PSN login policy continues to cause issues on PC, with Ghost Of Tsushima being the latest game to be pulled from sale in certain countries.
Helldivers 2 is one of the most successful games of the year so far, but a recent policy change on linking PlayStation Network (PSN) accounts appears to have impacted its momentum.
Earlier this month, Sony reinstated a requirement which forced PC players to create and link a PSN account even if they don’t have a PlayStation console. In a bizarre oversight, this meant many countries which don’t have PSN access could no longer access Helldivers 2 – leading to it being delisted from Steam in 177 countries.
Sony reversed the decision a day later but it seems like it might be a while before Helldivers 2 returns to Steam in these countries, as the same has now happened with the upcoming PC port of Ghost Of Tsushima Director’s Cut due to the PSN requirement.
As spotted by SteamDB, Ghost Of Tsushima Director’s Cut has been delisted from Steam in the same territories, with the platform issuing refunds for those who pre-ordered the title ahead of its release on May 16.
This is somewhat bizarre considering developer Sucker Punch confirmed earlier this month that a PSN account is only required to play the Legends multiplayer mode and use the PlayStation overlay. ‘It is not required to play the single-player game,’ the developer stated on May 3.
While it’s unclear whether these delistings will remain for Ghost Of Tsushima, Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead has confirmed it is in discussions with Sony about lifting the region restrictions.
After Helldivers 2 was delisted in Estonia, Lithuania, and Latvia over the weekend, Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt said that was an ‘administrative error correction’ and not an indication of further delistings in other parts of the world.
In a post on the Helldivers 2 Discord, Pilestedt wrote: ‘So, to give an update on the three further country restrictions. It was an administrative error correction – they should have been part of the original restriction and it was noticed when the restriction was put in place for [Ghost Of] Tsushima.
‘This was noticed and executed independently by Valve. While it doesn’t look positive. It is not an indication of further restrictions. The conversation on region restrictions is still ongoing and is independent of this. I have no further information. We (Arrowhead) still want the game to be available everywhere.’

It’s unclear if the PSN network linking requirement will continue to be used in future PC ports of PlayStation titles. Sony, however, has made clear that it plans to release more titles on PC, so this will likely be an issue for all of them.
Just recently, reliable leaker Billbil-kun claimed a PC version of God Of War Ragnarök is set to be announced sometime this month – presumably at the rumoured PlayStation Showcase.
