A dataminer has unearthed evidence that Red Dead Redemption and its expansion Undead Nightmare are finally making their way to PC.
While Rockstar has released the majority of its modern games on PC, the one notable absence has been the original Red Dead Redemption (and predecessor Red Dead Revolver, actually).
Originally released in 2010 on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Red Dead Redemption received a Switch and PlayStation 4 port only last year. At the time, many questioned why it still hadn’t come to PC, especially after its sequel, Red Dead Redemption 2, got a PC version in 2019 – only a year after it launched on consoles.
It seems Rockstar is paying attention though, as a dataminer who specialises in the company’s games has found a message buried in Rockstar’s launcher site, which refers to the existence of an upcoming PC port.
As noted in a screenshot of the files shared by dataminer Tez2, a newly added marketing line reads: ‘Journey across the sprawling expanses of the American West and Mexico in Red Dead Redemption, and its zombie-horror companion, Undead Nightmare now playable on PC.’
While there’s no indication of when the port will go live, it certainly sounds like it could be relatively soon. Rockstar usually makes announcements on its own time, as seen with GTA 6, but it could turn up at Summer Game Fest on June 7.
Red Dead Redemption might feel dated in some aspects when compared to its sequel, but some people prefer the original’s less realistic physics and controls. Its expansion, Undead Nightmare, is also a highlight – turning the Wild West into zombie horror shlock with its own single-player campaign and multiplayer modes.

Rockstar’s next tentpole title is GTA 6, which is expected to come out in 2025. Nothing has been announced since the original reveal trailer last year, but some fans believe more could be shown soon, due to various recent coding changes on Rockstar’s website.
This suggests we might see something at the PlayStation showcase rumoured for this month, Summer Game Fest on June 7, or at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 9.
