This Morning’s Gok Wan has been showered in support from his ITV co-stars after revealing the death of his close friend Ali.

The 49-year-old TV presenter took to Instagram with his heartbreak, posting a sweet tribute with a series of clips over the years.

He wrote: ‘After many years of fighting, Ali has finally ended her battle and is now at peace, resting with the stars.

‘Ali passed away today with her family by her side. Her wonderful son, Tash, who she loved with all her might, reassured us Ali was not in pain and comfortable.

‘Ali was the smartest, most courageous, sensitive and kind person any one of us could have had the privilege to meet. In my eyes, she was simply perfect.

‘We spent many years preparing for this moment but no amount of talks or planning could have prepared me for this overwhelming pain.

‘I miss her so much already. Her wisdom. Her smile. Her naughtiness. Her kind touch. Her everything.’

Gok went on: ‘The very moment I met you I fell in love with you. We always said it was destiny that we should have met and I thank every happy thought that we did.

‘Thank you for the best years of adventures and fun. Thank you for being every inch of you. You told me you were going to the stars and I believe you. I know that one day we will dance again, together in the skies.

‘You showed the world what it means to be vulnerable yet strong. You showed every one of us how to be brave. You will never know how loved you are because that’s the sweet and unselfish person you are. I miss you soo much.

‘You used to tell me I am the love of your life. I used to tell you to shut up. I would do anything to hear you say that again.

‘We both agreed this song is one of the best vocals ever sung. How lucky were we to share so much music together. You will forever be in every song I love.

‘The night sky will always be brighter now that you are shining your beautiful light from the universe. Rest now my dear Fanny. I will see you in the music my love. Your, Gok x.’

His post was showered in love from co-stars, with Alison Hammond writing: ‘So sorry about your loss Gok, how lovely to have had a special friend like Ali. Love to you and her family and friends. Rip.’

Ashleu James said: ‘Oh Gok, I’m so sorry and sending you love,’ while Loose Women’s Ruth Langsford wrote: ‘Oh Gok… I’m so sorry for your loss. What a beautiful tribute to your wonderful friend. Hold your memories of her close…you will have those forever. Sending you love the tightest hug.’

This Morning guests Lisa Snowdon and Dr Zoe also shared their condolences, with Lisa writing: ‘Gok. Darling. I’m sending you so much love. What a wonderful woman and how lucky you both were to have found one another and shared so much, the laughter, the love, the dancing, so many special moments. Love to you and your all who knew and loved Ali.’

‘Oh Gok What a woman, what a friendship. Sending you so much love my darling. You truly will dance again together. So many of us so grateful that you introduced us to Alison and that we got to experience her beauty too. Love you xxx,’ Dr Zoe added.

Gok later shared further clips and videos of him with Ali, who was known on Instagram as Fanny McPhee, captioning one of them: ‘I would give every part of my heart to sing in the rain with you again. Today has been one of the hardest days of my life Al. I just want to call you and tell you how sad I feel. I know you’d tell me to shut up. I wish you’d tell me to shut up. I miss you twat face.’

On a post on her Instagram page, he commented: ‘I miss you my love.’

Just days ago, Gok shared an update on Ali’s health, writing in a post: ‘The sad truth is she is now very poorly. She hasn’t been and probably now won’t be very active on her socials but she wants me to send you her love and thanks each one of you for your love, support and kindness.

‘I’m in contact with her every day and even though this is tough and fucking hideous she still manages to smile as we share our precious memories.

‘Her last days/weeks are being spent surrounded by her amazing family (in particular her son who is a true warrior) who are all making her as comfortable as possible.’

In September, Ali shared a picture of her and Gok on Instagram, saying ‘he loves me fiercely…I know this without any question…as I do him.’

She spoke of their ‘ride or die love for each other’ over 13 years as they spent time together in Melbourne as she was unable to travel to the UK.

Ali and Gok both continued to share updates on her health after she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018.

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1.
