Super Gran star Gudrun Ure dies aged 98-Ruth Lawes-Entertainment – Metro

Scottish TV legend Gudrun Ure, the star of 1980s children’s show Super Gran, has died aged 98, it has been reported.

Ure was best known for playing Granny Smith, a grandmother who acquires superpowers when she is struck by a magic ray, in the beloved ITV series.

Her death was confirmed by her niece Kate McNeill, who described her as a ‘really kind person’, according to the BBC.

Ure began her professional acting career three decades before starring in Super Gran, which ran from 1985 until 19887.
