It is the burning question we have long wondered… is King Charles a secret Love Island fan?
Well, thanks to the ITV show’s host Maya Jama, 29, we now know the answer.
The Rimmel model asked the baffled monarch, 75, whether he turned into the long-running series during a Buckingham Palace garden party celebrating the creative industries on Wednesday.
Introducing herself as a TV presenter, Maya said: ‘I host Love Island. I don’t know if you’ve watched it? It’s a reality dating show.’
Laughing, the King quipped in response: ‘There’s one born every minute.’
And Maya’s banter did not stop there…

When asked about her future plans, she told to King: ‘I’m just about to go to Spain to film some young people snog someone.’
Other celebrity attendees at the event included documentary filmmaker Louis Theroux, Hollywood director Sir Ridley Scott and artist Tracey Emin.
Louis was also intrigued by King Charles’ TV habits but said he ‘couldn’t tell’ if he was a fan of his documentary work.
‘I would love to say he is,’ he added.

Charles is no stranger to the world of TV and even boasts his own IMDb page due to various acting credits, having starred in
He has appeared in soaps Coronation Street and EastEnders, as well as children’s show Jacknory.
Charles was also the guest of honour on a special episode of The Repair Shop and even gave presenter Jay Blades a tour of Dumfries House.

The King’s other non-acting TV credits include presenting a weather forecast on BBC Scotland in May 2012, guest-editing an episode of Countryfile in 2013, in which he also appeared on screen, and joining This Morning in 2018 to celebrate the show’s 30th anniversary.
What are King Charles favourite TV shows?
As for his favourite TV shows, Charles previously revealed he was a fan of BBC period drama Poldark, which starred Aidan Turner and Eleanor Tomlinson.
At bookshop Bookends of Fowey in Cornwall in 2018, he said: ‘What I can’t get over watching that Poldark stuff on TV is how many he wrote.’

During a trip to Denmark in 2012, Queen Camilla also shared that the royal couple watched Nordic noir, The Killing, and met stars of the show, including Sofie Gråbøl.
At a reception for the couple, the series’ creator, Søren Sveistrup, said: ‘The King had told me it was Camilla who introduced him to The Killing.
‘He said it was one of the only things they could agree on seeing together.’
