The item from a French luxury brand looked in good condition in the selection of photos they shared.

The style enthusiast took to Reddit’s Thrift Store Hauls forum to rave about their budget-friendly purchase.
Posting under the name MandrewCarrion, they shared snaps of the item bought for just $5.
“Found a vintage Chanel bag on the floor of my local GW! [Goodwill],” they said.
An almost identical Chanel leather tote is currently listed for over $4,500 on pre-loved website Vestiaire Collective.
The black leather shoulder bag features eye-catching gold accents.
Hundreds of people up-voted the Redditor’s post and confessed they were jealous they didn’t find it for themselves.
“Same tags as my vintage Chanel flap, lucky you mine was thousands!” one person said.

The fashionista revealed the handbag had a serial number which suggested it was made around 2002 to 2003.
“The inside Lampo style and the stitching is all consistent with that era too,” they said.

According to Goodwill, thrift stores receive new donations daily which makes it difficult to specify the best day to visit.
They recommend going to stores regularly to be the first to spot newly displayed items.
The Redditor responded to a commenter who was skeptical the accessory was genuine because of the “leather grain” and hardware style.
“I have a seller’s account at TheRealReal that I absolutely love haha,” they said.
“I think the embossing you’re referring to is the ‘caviar’ leather that Chanel is known for.
“The grommets definitely bothered me too; I’m used to seeing ‘CHANEL’ stamped around them.
“According to my sources, it’s a (Petite Timeless Quilted Caviat Tote].”
Having sent it to an authenticator, the Redditor was able to sell the secondhand Chanel bag on Rebag for $1,670.
Chanel recommends only purchasing from authorized vendors to be sure a product is genuine.
They warn that a very low price can be a red flag that the item is counterfeit.
Other telltale signs include poor stitching, misspellings, and errors in how the logo is presented.
