Bridgerton season three has finally landed on our screens, with fans having desperately waited to witness Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton’s love story.

While Derry Girls actress Nicola Coughlan and The Cut star Luke Newton are now taking centre stage in the hit Netflix series, viewers will be delighted to know we’ll still be getting a peak into the lives of Colin’s older brother Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) and Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley).

And while there’s plenty of drama to unfold surrounding the Bridgerton family, one sibling won’t be as present this series, but has previously addressed why she’s missing.

The first season of the Regency-era period drama followed the passionate romance between Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon Basset (Regé-Jean Page), and while she cropped up in season two, Prisoners’ Wives star Phoebe won’t be featured in The Ton this time around.

Back in 2023, when asked by ScreenRant if there are any ‘exciting dynamics coming up for Daphne in Bridgerton season 3’, the actress said at the Sundance Film Festival: ‘Sadly not in season 3. Potentially in the future.’

She added: ‘But season 3, I’m just excited to watch as a viewer.’

However, months earlier, showrunner Jess Brownell told Variety: ‘We want to keep seeing all of our Bridgerton siblings.

‘We feel like those moments when the whole family is together is what really makes the show and makes all of us, I think, want to be a Bridgerton.

‘So yes, you will definitely be seeing Daphne, Anthony and Kate — how much, I don’t want to say quite yet, but you have to tune in.’

In another interview with the publication, Phoebe added: ‘Well I did my two seasons, I’ve done what I wanted to do with that character and she had a great arc. If they ask me back in the future, who knows?’

Meanwhile, Phoebe’s onscreen lover, Regé-Jean’s exit was confirmed ahead of season two, and he later rubbished rumours that he was in talks to come back for season three.

The actor addressed the rumour in a post on Instagram featuring a photo of him and his Bridgerton co-star Jonathan, writing: ‘The boys are back in town.’

He then added: ‘I’m not going back to the show btw,’ stating that the rumour was ‘made up’.

‘But we had the best, and most stylish, catch up I’ve had in a while over some truly excellent Italian coffee and sunshine,’ he wrote.

Bridgerton season three part one is available to stream on Netflix.
