ITV viewers have been left gobsmacked after contestants on The 1% Club were stumped with what’s been dubbed an obvious answer to a question.
Since launching in 2022, the game show has been hosted by Lee Mack, with the 100 players facing questions based on ‘logic and common sense’ rather than general knowledge.
As they pursue the £100,000 cash prize, the questions get increasingly harder – starting with ones 90% of the population polled got right, all the way down to 1 per cent.
But on the latest episode, the 40% question managed to see over 30% of the contestants eliminated, a mass exodus that even shocked the host.
The question was: ‘Which of these would it be impossible to do? (A) Marry your cousin’s cousin (B) Marry your brother’s widow (C) Marry your widow’s sister.’
When it came time to reveal how many people had chosen the correct answer and made it through to the next one, it was announced that 32 had not done so.

‘Wow that is massive. 32 people went out on that one,’ Lee exclaimed.
After sharing that C was the correct answer, he explained it was because ‘you would not be able to marry your widow’s sister as you would already be dead’.
‘Before we get any complaints – I accept that is a bit zombie-ist,’ he then quipped.
Jamil, a contestant on the show, admitted to choosing the incorrect option and said he’d gone with B.

‘Yes, your brother’s widow – she’s still alive but your brother has died. This isn’t me breaking any news, I’m just telling you the answer to the question!’ Lee said.
Meanwhile Kate, another contestant who selected B too, expressed her confusion: ‘I still thought I was right for a really long time, even after you told us the right answer.’
Those watching on at home were also confused, but instead because they believed the answer should have been obvious.

‘How did 32 people get that wrong!’ Stephanie posted on X.
‘32 out on that question. Must be a record,’ user DT shared.
‘A total massacre in that question,’ Joseph added.
Many others posted saying they got the question correct after quickly realising the final option couldn’t have been possible.
The 1% Club airs Saturdays at 8.55pm on ITV1.
