CNN star Alice Stewart has died aged 58, with police revealing that they discovered her body outdoors.
The late political commentator joined the news channel in 2016, having previously worked on five Republican presidential campaigns.
Law enforcement officials informed CNN that Stewart was found on Saturday morning in the Belle View neighbourhood in northern Virginia.
The publication reported that no foul play is suspected, with officers believing that a medical emergency occurred.
In an email sent to CNN staff on Saturday, CEO Mark Thompson wrote: ‘Alice was a very dear friend and colleague to all of us at CNN.
‘A political veteran and an Emmy Award-winning journalist who brought an incomparable spark to CNN’s coverage, known across our bureaus not only for her political savvy, but for her unwavering kindness.

Stewart shared her final post on Instagram a day ago, celebrating her colleagues as she wrote in her caption: ‘It’s always a sunny day when you can join the great @wolfblitzer on #CNN with @mariacardonadc!’
In the photo, she was joined by Wolf Blitzer and Maria Cardona behind the news desk.
Underneath the Instagram post, numerous people wrote messages expressing their sadness over Stewart’s death.
Author and journalist Sophia Nelson commented: ‘I am heartbroken 💔 Alice my friend we will miss your civility and goodness. Rest well sister.’
Journalist Sarah Zapp added: ‘You had the best heart. We stayed friends from our very first days @kark4news. Will miss you terribly. 💔🙏.’
